I never use any ''speed up your PC'' software, in most cases it just adds more crap to it.

 

I'd just check your startup items, remove any unwanted programs that you installed ages and you've forgot about, run a full spy-ware scan etc.

Is it a laptop? If so, could be full of dust. That'll grind your computer to a halt as things start to heat up.

Avoid ccCleaner and the like. Any registry 'cleaner' will cause more harm than good.

 

Housekeeping is key, defrag, disk cleanup, regular virus checks etc.

 

SSD drive would help as well
