End of College Holidays

I finished my A-Levels the week before last and tomorrow a large group of us are going to Kavos in Greece for our end of college holiday. It will be the last time most of us spend time together what with us all going down one of three routes: University, Gap Year or the end of education and the start of something else. I'm excited more than any other emotion and cannot wait to get there.

But, I wish to ask two questions of you lovely people out there:

Firstly, if you have been and if so how was it?

Secondly, I'll ask you to share your end of college holiday memories with us all.

I've already packed my suitcase, Turkish: however, I have read your fashion-related posts with eagerness and feel I have packed in the right manner.

Go forth and post Saints fans

My daughter was going there with her group.....;)

But luckily after telling her that football hooligans were on their waythere ..they have decided to go

to Ibitha.....

I am led to believe that Ibitha, unlike Kavos.. is a nice quiet place with no football rowdies....:uhoh:

It is Ibiza.....stupid boy ottery:blush:

Paros - 2 weeks, no money, OK, but grim reality setting in that it was all over - life was going to get hard, complicated, and responsibilty would feature .... end of era misery that seemed to cloud the trip - Good story of my friend (and later best man) attempting 'unification' with Germany on the beach, only to be 'disturbed' by a 'large' alsation that saw his humping arse as fair game....

I went to Kavos on a 2wentys holiday years ago. It's basically one strip of bars and clubs (with a fork at the end) and one strip of beach. Quality weather but the main thing you'll notice is the smell of shiiiiiiiiiiiit. It stinks. But hopefully you'll be so drunk you won't notice!

Ibiza is less likely to be affordable to school leavers/teenagers. Which means there are far fewer cases of people passed out in the street caked in their own vomit and pigeon kebabs. Also, Ibiza smells less like a toilet.

I remember my end of school holidays, 7 weeks at the Sunlight Laundry off Winchester Rd and 8 weeks at the Montague Motor Museum telling idiot punters not to lean on the cars and scratch the paint.

I went to Newquay last year, plus I am already in work and will continue to be after Kavos. Ilfracombe is good, I agree.

Ouch. The last time I went was 2010, and I spent about £1200 on the week. And that was with flights and accom for only £250 and trying to do most of the drinking on the cheap where possible. Good luck with that!

Whoa. For Amsterdam for 4 days we managed £150 each for accommodation and flights. Sure, the place we stayed was just a bed, but it was well placed within the city. I took about £180 worth of euros too. Nice and cheap.

We've booked Ibiza for the closing parties in September. Flights are £150 from Bournemouth and the hotel we stay at will be about £90 each. Basic but it has air con and does the job. Problem with Ibiza is the price of getting into the clubs. We go there for the music, and you'll usually pay €30-50 to get in anywhere that's worth going to on any particular night. It's expensive, but comfortably worth it. Much rather shell out the extra few hunderd quid and go to Ibiza than go somewhere sh*t like Kavos, Malia, Faliraki or Magaluf where you're surrounded by wasted 18 year olds, the smell of sewage, and chart-dance pop music clubs.

We've found that festivals abroad are really good value for money when getting away for a good time. A week at Exit festival in Serbia cost me £500 door to door, including flights via Munich, and we went to Pag in Croatia which is cheap as chips and a real up and coming lads holiday destination.

Been to Malia, Magaluf, Tenerife and Zante in the last 4 years.

Malia - Quality

Magaluf - Good, but a bit seedy.

Tenerife - Amazing, quite low key and not many outright clubs, but has a great vibe on the strip

Zante - Rundown shi_thole, left after 3 days.
