Southgate says England needs a shrink to help with penalties

Everyone says how crap England is, but if we even had a 50/50 record in penalties we'd of probably won something by now.

A good sports psychologist would help, but what the England team really needs is fewer and better James Milners.

Agreed. If we'd beaten Germany in the Euro 96 and World Cup 90 semis I reckon we'd have won both finals.

Well I agree with Gareth, they do need to do something. A shrink can't hurt, but why not employ some ex player who was a brilliant penalty-taker to coach the entire squad? Just need to come up with the right man.

Football seems to throw up lots of past records. Look at the Italy v Germany record in competitive games. Seems to fit the bill after the game. Confidence is an enormous factor in football and I'm sure a poor penalty record eats into that confidence. Having someone like MLT coaching penalty skills can only be a plus.
