Dark Munster Posted 30 June, 2012 Share Posted 30 June, 2012 http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/article/165/7852966/southgate-we-need-a-shrink Well I agree with Gareth, they do need to do something. A shrink can't hurt, but why not employ some ex player who was a brilliant penalty-taker to coach the entire squad? Just need to come up with the right man. Bearsy Posted 30 June, 2012 Share Posted 30 June, 2012 Everyone says how crap England is, but if we even had a 50/50 record in penalties we'd of probably won something by now. A good sports psychologist would help, but what the England team really needs is fewer and better James Milners.

If we'd beaten Germany in the Euro 96 and World Cup 90 semis I reckon we'd have won both finals.

Confidence is an enormous factor in football and I'm sure a poor penalty record eats into that confidence. Having someone like MLT coaching penalty skills can only be a plus. The one I can think of seems to have taken himself out of contention. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/euro2012/4404991/Roy-Hodgson-branded-a-coward-by-Matthew-Le-Tissier.html
Lighthouse Posted 3 July, 2012 Share Posted 3 July, 2012 I'd have taken MLT in the squad instead of someone like Downing. If we get to penalties, just stick him on with 30 seconds of extra time left.
