For the passion, for the future, for the victories, for the glory, for the Saints

This is true. However, if the shirt's sales figure will never be released and the designs are possibly reflecting the whim of someone who believes that the all red approach is a good idea for various 'reasons'.... then a boycott may not have any impact whatsoever.

There you have it; I don't think a boycott will actually have any effect other than showing how deep the feeling is towards stripes. This dictat of an entirely new style kit has by most accounts come right from the top. Strong rumours that the CEO rode roughshod over all common sense last year with the red and white kit idiocy; yet is seemingly still content to throw out a kit that the majority of fans don't want or like. Its far too easy to put out a kit that the fans do want, so this is clearly a show that fans' opinions will not be heard in this regard. So be it; I just won't go along with that by buying it, that's all I have really and I don't think anything else will make a difference other than not one single person buying it, which simply will not happen.

It's not redundant because it's obviously something that a fair few people (yourself included) want, that I have tried to provide a focal point for some kind of focused effort is my part of trying to protest and has the potential to be far more effective then one lost sale. The desire is obviously there for a return to stripes in a great proportion of the fanbase!

The sales figures of this shirt are going to be very interesting, in conversation it has become clear that none of my friends will be purchasing and they are usually all for buying the new kit.

Are you berating those not buying it because they are "damaging the club"....? I've been struggling to keep up with your principled protest of buying the kit you are protesting against.

It's the principle of wanting Saints to wear stripes. That's the core of it.

No stipulation in the group of how any protest should be held, just a focal point to increase the profile of that.

To make it utterly clear, I am not berating anyone. It is absolutely not my place to criticise how any fan behaves. I just want to see the desire of a majority of the fanbase prevail.

You've only got to look at the resounding success of the 'f*ck off Guly' Facebook group to see how effective these things can be.

Who has more likes?

Slightly different. That's just a page. Save our Stripes is a group.

Currently SoS is on 214 members. Considering that 395 people here have voted 'Don't like, won't buy,' that's reasonable at this stage.

500 or so people like the Guly page.

But hey, SoS has only been going for a week. Was surprised yet pleased to see that #saveourstripes was being used on Twitter today.

So about 0.06% of an average matchday crowd, yet 17% of fans said they'd buy the new kit. Work to do yet Colin.

Not wrong! It is a start though, the same poll you quoted also revealed 60% not wanting it and not buying it. A similar poll on the echo website with a far greater sample rate also revealed 60% wanting stripes.

It's a marathon not a sprint, from the smallest acorns, every journey begins with one step... #cliché.

I think you should also write a strongly worded email to the club.

It's brilliant. Everything we do is brilliant. These signs mean we mean business. The whole nation will be talking about Saints now.

To be fair, most other supporters I talk to are impressed with the progress we are making. We are also getting some great press with the direction we are going in.

It is like a business, the mind set of the players and the fans. The passion, the future. I for one believe the club are doing a great job in promoting positive thinking, and even the players who sign say that the plan and the ambition of the club is a big reason for them signing.

But you will be encouraging your facebook friends to buy the new kit as you don't want to damage the club right?

Maybe encourage your facebookers to post photos of them in their newly bought shirts on your page: this will reassure you and the club that SFC will not be damaged by this protest.

Obviously start with a pic of yourself in it. Or even better a picture of you thumbs-upping in the queue to the megastore.

Thanks for replying to a post only twelve months after I made it.
