Saint J 77 Posted 27 June, 2012 Posted 27 June, 2012 I'd always go for the classic Louis Armstrong version, that's best for me!
DJ_TOAST Posted 27 June, 2012 Posted 27 June, 2012 Gona be good showing Spurs what for this season. Hopefully get the whole stadium going when the whole of the Northam is singing it (Spurs and us)
hamster Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 I've got the Beatles version. My last ever vinyly, rest going to boot fair. For sale if anyone's interested in making me an offer?
Sour Mash Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 Gona be good showing Spurs what for this season. Hopefully get the whole stadium going when the whole of the Northam is singing it (Spurs and us) It'll be embarrassing as they sing it much better than us.
dellboypete Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 this is my iphone ring tone - always turns heads when its on full volume
dellboypete Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 what I meant to say was that this I'd always go for the classic Louis Armstrong version, that's best for me! is my iphone ringtone!!
Thedelldays Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 It'll be embarrassing as they sing it much better than us. That they do
cellone Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 That they do We had all better keep quiet for that game then less we look like fools.
Saint_Randell Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 It'll be embarrassing as they sing it much better than us. It may be true but don't ever admit this to any Spurs fans
Saint_Randell Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 We've definitely got slightly better at it recently, was suprised at how good it sounded when I watched the Coventry game back on TV.
eelpie Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 How many versions are there out there? Perhaps we should have a sticky so that we can aim to list most if not all of them (with links) - before our Premiership first match. I would love it if the club played a different version each week before the players came out. For the record, my favourites are by Fats Domino and the George Lewis New Orleans Band. Humphrey Littleton did a pretty hot one too.
Supersubpuckett Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 Didn't the team used to run out to a slightly disco version of it (circa 2003) We certainly need to reclaim it as ours
The9 Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 Now we are back in the premiership ,(the always copied ) Whats the best version of 'when the saints goes marching' ive always liked the 'ska' version by tommy mc,cook Or not.
The Cat Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 Elvis did a version. It's on an album my mate has. I stuck it on while djing at our Xmas do one year because our boss was a skate. He wasn't happy. 40 seconds into this.
st alex Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 This song might be better suited to Saints? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bells_of_St._Mary%27s_%28song%29
dune Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 Traditional all the way for me. I hate the fast version and I hate the slow Spurs version. This is how it should be sung.
dune Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 It'll be embarrassing as they sing it much better than us. Only because the nauseating slow version they sing is marginally better than the chavy fast version we sing, and now we've started singing the nauseating slow version and the chavy fast version. I remember when we used to sing it properly (as in my video above).
JPTCount Posted 28 June, 2012 Posted 28 June, 2012 I once saw it sung on French tv, in English. "oh when zeh saints..."
1960saint Posted 1 July, 2012 Author Posted 1 July, 2012 Cant stand that 'SPURS' version its sounds so fake ,almost forced. i prefer the saints original , theres plenty of saints clips on youtube . does what it says on the tin, it gets the job done .thats all that matters.
Saint J 77 Posted 1 July, 2012 Posted 1 July, 2012 (edited) Cant stand that 'SPURS' version its sounds so fake ,almost forced. i prefer the saints original , theres plenty of saints clips on youtube . does what it says on the tin, it gets the job done .thats all that matters. Its funny, an old Spurs friend claims its their song for the terraces. Apparently they sang it before started singing it. I know its bull, but whatever the truth is and Whatever the Spurs fans claims to the ownership of the Song "Oh When the Saints" (or Spurs, as they sing it) are. They can't change the FACT the original words are "Oh when the SAINTS go marching in" and anything they change it in to will never alter that Edited 1 July, 2012 by Saint J 77
1960saint Posted 1 July, 2012 Author Posted 1 July, 2012 Most football clubs copy southamptons Original version ,putting a different slant on it but never heard pompey sing it . too many words to remember i guess
70's Mike Posted 2 July, 2012 Posted 2 July, 2012 Albion Band or that Army Band that played at the Dell quite a lot, cannot remember Regiment
