Hell no. Plus he's nearly 26, that's not THAT young. He's not better than Richardson either. From what I've seen of Clyne, he'd be a good right back signing but if we have trust that Jack Stephens is around the corner of promotion to the first team, then we really could use an experienced right back signing.

My point - to spell it out - is that M.Cranie plays both RB and CB. There are not many players who can play both positions, and of those how many are available for free?? Yes, I'd prefer Micah Richards, but he isn't available on a free!!!

Craine is not good enough for the PL, why would you even suggest it?? I don't give a **** if he's free, I'd sh!t myself if he ever got into a PL starting lineup for us. Gone are the days when we fill the squad up with players who aren't good enough, just to 'make up'' the numbers.

Cranie was a key part of several Coventry sides that always talked about going up and then did well to avoid the drop, until they were so financially ruined that they eventually did go down. I'd wonder if he's even good enough for the Championship.

I think he could do a job for a Barnsley-like team, but some fans need to be aiming their expectations a hell of a lot higher! We've got some fans who have it too high, and some who have expectations too low! Meet us in the middle somewhere...

Quite like the last bit in the Guardian....even if he is deluded.." with the new investor they want to be chasing Manchester City"

One thing I didn't know that the article highlighted for me. "Buttner particularly impressed last season and was named in Holland's provisional 36-man squad for Euro 2012." So if he has a good season with us, he could break into the Netherlands Nation side.

QPR = Pompey II ?

Park pays for himself with the merchandise that will be sold in Asia as hes huge there.

Also we are expected to announce an all purpose 35k stadium with retractable roof and seating on Monday which should help pay the bills.

Not if you struggle to fill it and it becomes a white elephant.

A white elephant for white city, seems appropriate.

Really, you really believe that? They won't be so keen to get his name on the back of a non Man-U shirt.

Why would they struggle to fill it?

They are in the most crowded Premiership borough in the country. Hammersmith & Fulham has Chelsea, Fulham and QPR - QPR being the worst team in the borough by some distance.

Because they struggle to sell out Loftus Road, which is under 20k.

Actually they don't - I live in Shepherds Bush and attempted to get to a few games last season, all of which were sold out bar games against Wigan and Stoke etc. Even then it was nearly full.

Apparently they are close to selling out their season tickets this season too without them even making General Sale.

But there must be thousands of Brentford, Chartlon and Crystal Palace fans looking for Premeir league football? Also the areas are fairly densely populated and Fulham and Chelsea are always sold out. QPR will easily be able to pick up their fans as well, as well as supporters from the home counties who want to see premier league football.

You're correct and MLG is wrong as usual, the capacity is 18k and they had a number of sell outs and most of their games were near capacity. So no suggestion at all they couldn't fill a bigger stadium.

You've just admitted they didn't sell out every game in a 18k stadium. Which indicates the demand isn't there, if they can't sell out a 18k stadium against Wigan and Stoke how full would a 35k stadium be against Wigan and Stoke? They were even some way below 18k capacity in their Championship winning season, compared to Saints at over 26k.

...anyway this is now very much off topic so I'll leave it there. Start a new thread if you want to discuss it further.

Yet your are saying we should expand so we can get more fans in for the bigger games and offer deals for ghe games that are less glamourous. Why can we do it for that reason and QPR not? They clearly sold out a number of times last season so the potential is there,

I had to go in the home end when we beat them 2-0 in 2006-07 and had to sign up as a member - never been since (for a non-saints game) yet I get emailed deals for games all the time. It's almost pathetic.

If you can name me one club in the EPL that sells out every single game in a season I'd be very impressed...

A bigger stadium might mean that some fans who thought they couldn't get tickets for whatever reason or attracted to go to games, it might mean cheaper prices, who knows?

You said that they struggled to fill out Loftus Road, my point is that for the majority of the season your statement was incorrect.

Not rubbish at all. Look at the attendances. Just over 18k capacity and over half of them seem to be sell outs, with another large number over 17k which suggests away fans didn't sell their allocation, which I'm not surprised a out given the cost.

As is often the case with him. Bizarre logic, he claims saints should expand because we'll sell out against the Big clubs, yet QPR shouldn't when they have just had a season doing exactly that.

Exactly, and having brought the subject into this thread he just tells everyone to shut up when he has been proved wrong. A bit pathetic really.

Fast, agile player, bit short, just 5ft 9. But he is strong and has great stamina and endurance. Very consistent player and has a high work rate. Mentally strong and not complacent. He lacks a bit in technique, but can throw in a good cross. His passing is decent and he can shoot from distance. However, his tactical insight is below par. He still needs mature a bit in that department. Like i said good pace, great tackling, Man marking is above par just his height and his jumping can be a disadvantage.

From a fan at his current club.

1) I haven't told anyone to shut up. I merely said this is off topic (it is a Buttner thread), I am more than happy to continue this if someone starts a thread about QPR's stadium in the Lounge forum.

2) A QPR fan brought up their new stadium (in this Buttner thread), not me.

3) I haven't been "proved wrong". If you want to discuss that then start a thread in the Lounge.

Turkish and MLG please stop this thing that you keep on doing on every thread.

I use the forum to read saints related news and hardly ever post but nearly every thread is taking up with you two flirting with each other.

You do realise you are arguing over whether QPR can fill a stadium they don't have? It's the weekend go out and kiss a girl or something.

Don't deny that-ffs we were filling SMS regularly with 18000+ fans in L1 - hardly the stuff of superlatives.

My point was addressed more to the other poster who claims it's impossible to get tickets - as a member, I can quite easily get tickets -no twinning b******ks and can usually buy them at the last minute. It's a very fickle demand and fanbase- just look at the drop off when they were in the championship, even during their title winning season.

Granted that season ticket renewals have been very strong, albeit inflated by the lure of big name signings and a chairman's big mouth, does that justify a doubling in capacity? Do our plans, even the most ambitious ones which envisage a much smaller percentage increase, look that crazy in comparison. I agree with MLG on qpr's attendance problems but totally disagree with him in terms of qpr being a benchmark. Two wrongs don't make a right.

It was in one of the newspaper articles I think, and to be honest most wing backs/full backs are versatile to play either side, but I can imagine Buttner will be primarily used on the left and we go out and buy an additional RB!

You'd think so, but Fulham for example has taken an age to rebuild its fanbase back to what it was in the sixties. Even now, with a capacity of around 25,000 at Craven Cottage, you can get tickets on the day for many PL games.

Back on topic, I'd guess that Buttner has been bought to play in front of, or interchangeably with, Fox - not instead of him.
