He is a bit. Very one footed, has little pace and his positioning at times is appalling.

I agree.

Fox is excellent going forward and has a brilliant delivery and part of the very reason why we scored many goals.

he can get caught out defensively and lacks that yard of pace at times

all good having competition though, surely this bloke coming will give fox that (more than harding could anyway)

Exactly right. We are starting to have genuine competition in a lot of areas.

Excellent, Fox needs competition, Harding and Dickson really didn't provide it last season so this should really push the team in the right direction.

'I'm in Southampton and everything is perfect. The club, the stadium and the reception really surprised me. Beautiful.
from the Mail

Really like the sound of his attitude towards the move too, very positive about Southampton and the club, just what we need from new signings :)

I hope this guy turns out to be good but the Dutch LB at the Euro's was really dodgy and was still called up before Buttner.

I think this was based on age tho, willems is younger and they figured he was capable, clearly a yard too far for him tho

but look who we had at rb, walker and Richards are both better than Johnson, by a long way.

jordan henderson is no way one of the best 4 CM that are English.

nor is Butland the 3rd best keeper that is English

selection policy (and having an eye on the future) plays a part

Hmm. I'd be quite surprised if we signed as many players as that. Assuming the Buttner deal does go through, that would make eight signings. A lot.

Agree, but is quite likely now IMO.

We knew we’d need 5 at least (4 down the spine, a right winger) – And that was before we lost Martin on loan and signed a left back.

You've changed your tune. You always quoted his stats, international caps etc whenever anyone questioned if he would be ok in the prem. What made you change your mind?

Did I? Think you have just made that up.

You can see from how he is rated on Football Manager that I don't consider him to be that great in terms of Premier League level. He'd do okay, but has a lot of flaws to his game which will see him exposed at Premier League level.

The new Jelle Van Damme.

Ouch!

I think reserving judgement on him would be a good idea though, people saying 'great signing!' etc. We've seen a matter of minutes of him from a YouTube compilation. No one can honestly call it at the moment. De Ridder was the same - YouTube video got us all hyped up, often he failed to live up to those heights, if he even played at all.

It's a really terrible claim to fame to keep banging on about at every possible opportunity.

Well I for one trust the opinion of our scouts and Adkins in this signing. Adkins has delivered 90 % of the time in the transfer windows. Will be interesting to see what position Buttner will play in though. It is hilarious that people can begin to doubt Buttner having never seen him play. Idiocy.

RB/CB - Martin Cranie is available on a free. Don't think we should pass him over. Never miund 'not prem quality' - he's on a free, and still young enough to improve.

Hell no. Plus he's nearly 26, that's not THAT young. He's not better than Richardson either. From what I've seen of Clyne, he'd be a good right back signing but if we have trust that Jack Stephens is around the corner of promotion to the first team, then we really could use an experienced right back signing.

his positioning is first class. It has to be due to his lack of pace. Didn't see anyone take him apart. Fox with pace would be right up there. Edited by Chez

I reckon there's every chance this guy will be used on the left and Adam will move to a CM role. Alex B can score goals, can pass and has a bit of pace too.

I bet there is every chance that this guy will provide an option on the left allowing Lallana & Guly to share the RM roles depending on the type of formation we play.

AL has been a great success out on the left, but without "electric pace", how effective will the "coming inside onto his preferred right foot be?

Not saying it will be the case but a good LM comes in and then RM starts to look like Adam's land.

I know many think AL in the hole but with 2 up front that leaves you a midfield of 2 CM's and only one wide player? That doesn't sound right from a balance perspective and also not right in the way NA set us up with Guly & AL

Let's simply wait & see

5m apparently, lots for a 31 year old whose legs are going.

Get to f*ck, £5M?? :lol::lol:

I hope he sells a lot of QPR shirts for that. He's decent enough but at that age (and for a winger) is on his way down, and will have very little resale value. Wages will be massive too. QPR really do like getting that wage bill to epic proportions.
