Alexander Büttner

Why are we discussing QPR's possible (and probably never to come to pass) new stadium, on the main board?

Because the mods have given up so much ground to the resident Trolls, they've lost all control of this forum and are now just hiding in their holes like frightened rabbits......

The Mods are currently in pre-season mode. We are working on our fitness preparing for the long campaign ahead ;)

To be honest discussing QPR is significantly more interesting than some of the 'banter' that has gone on over the past few weeks.

This was just released on a Dutch site: (Google translation)

Alexander Büttner'm not sure if the exhibition game on Saturday with the Batavians (6-0) will be the last for him in the shirt of Vitesse. The Arnhem club recently reached an agreement with Southampton about a transfer of the winger, but there is no question of a personal contract with the club in the English Premier League.

"At the moment this is not my last game for Vitesse. The clubs are out, only I did not. My agent loves to deal with that, and until then I'm still just in Arnhem," said the winger on the official website of the Arnhem club.

Büttner missed the game against the amateur a penalty. The defender played 45 minutes after the break and was replaced by Anderson

I guess this means that he hasn't yet agreed personal terms?

Still looks promising then!

We've only agreed a fee with Vitesse, the personal terms and medical etc. have yet to be done

Interesting comment on there from 'AjaxAmsterdam020':

"He's actually one of the best leftbacks in the Eredivisie. But we have to wait if he can handle the level in England. He only plays one year on the highest level in the Dutch League. Its a triggy choice."

The latest news concerning the transfer was a short interview after a pre-season friendly with Vitesse this weekend. The only thing he said there was that Vitesse and Saints have agreed on a fee and that his agent was negotiating with Saints. We'll just have to wait and see, everyone seems to be tight-lipped on the negotiations.

Surely one of those that becomes more unlikely the longer it goes. In theory it seemed an easy deal after he came to look round and wanted to come here (surely some sort of financials were discussed). Now, all of a sudden the clubs are aligned but not him. A bit strange but I guess transfers these days are never simple.

I always thought early reports of him signing were strange. I think it was a case of him being aware we had made an approach and he was excited by it. Then we had to agree a fee with his club and then negotiate terms (which we appear to be doing now) and then a medical. I still expect this to materialise before the end of the week or it will be dead in the water

I can only presume that we weren't allowed to enter personal terms until the two clubs agreed a fee.

Considering he was allowed to visit here, QPR and Fulham and described everything here as 'perfect' before a deal was agreed with Vitesse I'd imagine he will have a very good idea of what deal is on on the table. He is due to have a medical this week isn't he?

Well yes, I'm sure the club talked the basics of a deal with him and his agent, but they wouldn't want to go too forward with it. 'Tapping up' and all that.

It wasn't tapping up though. His club gave him permission to visit us, QPR and Fulham.

It's on Vitesse site

I'd imagine seeing that he played in a friendly on Saturday & having already agreed to join us that its just a case of him coming over here having a medical & signing the contract.

Pretty much a done deal

His agent is Alexander Bursac. Does anyone know much about him?

I'm guessing now Saints and Vitesse have agreed a price, Mr Bursac is probably trying to broker a last minute deal with QPR or Werder Bremen to try and make Saints offer a better contract?? :?

Deal quite possibly off.

This is what it says on the Vitesse site. Seems to be something to do with a third party, third party ownership perhaps?

"The transfer of Alexander Büttner to Southampton FC is uncertain. Last Friday Vitesse came to an agreement with the Premier League club on the transition from Büttner.

Because Büttner already had reached agreement over personal terms, it seemed nothing in the way of a transfer position, except a medical examination.

Over the weekend, however, let the player through his agent know that there is an additional requirement of a third party was Vitesse direction. Vitesse is the player that they do not want to meet this requirement, as was subsequently done and Vitesse refuses to put under pressure.

Vitesse is disappointed about the state of affairs, especially since at the express request of the player that has been negotiated with Southampton. The club Southampton FC has been drawn up correctly and take no blame for undermining the transfer. Vitesse also has done everything for the transfer to go through."

Oh dear, someone didn't do their homework on the contractual side of this then and we've lost time. Or perhaps this is just a cover story - perhaps Cortese got cold feet because the player released the news to the press that he was a Southampton player before he actually was? Anyway, can't see why a third party would get in the way of the move unless they wanted stupid money to go away - can't see Cortese being held to ransom.

When did Buttner say he was a Southampton player? All I've seen him say is that he was impressed with what he was shown and told about the club's ambitions. Plus, even if he did say it - why would that mean Cortese stopped the deal?
