S-Clarke Posted 25 June, 2012 Share Posted 25 June, 2012 He would be a huge signing. Got to think Sevilla are hot favorites though, something would need to go wrong that side for us to be in the race.
Saint J 77 Posted 25 June, 2012 Share Posted 25 June, 2012 Sounds like it could be true as there were reports Adkins flew out to watch a Euro game sometime last week.
S-Clarke Posted 25 June, 2012 Share Posted 25 June, 2012 Sounds like it could be true as there were reports Adkins flew out to watch a Euro game sometime last week. To be honest, I would expect we've been aware of his contract situation for months and have been scouting him for months. The world cup was just a decent window for the manager to have one last look. I thought he had a cracking tournament too.
shurlock Posted 25 June, 2012 Share Posted 25 June, 2012 Didn't somebody on here claim to be ITK on Adkins travel plans for the Euros which appeared to mesh perfectly with Czechoslovakia's fixtures?

beavis17 Posted 25 June, 2012 Share Posted 25 June, 2012 What exactly about that article suggests the Southampton way of doing things? The fact that we like to do our business in private and probably asked the agent not to mention our name in any quotes?

CB Fry Posted 25 June, 2012 Share Posted 25 June, 2012 (edited) The fact that we like to do our business in private and probably asked the agent not to mention our name in any quotes? Err, no. How about the agent is full of it and is talking up interest in his own player to get the best deal for his player, and to tout him about to any Premier league club. "Unnamed Premier League club" is agent code for "no club in particular" or "several clubs, none of which have made a firm move yet, but this might flush them out". I was trying to offer an explanation to the point made above. Of course I know agents talk up their players as is probably the case on this occasion. We'll see what happens on this one over the coming days...
Saint Garrett Posted 25 June, 2012 Author Share Posted 25 June, 2012 Can't say I really noticed him in the Euros but sounds like there could be some truth in it. What I meant by 'the Southampton way' was that we try and keep our interest as private as possible, as Adkins says in pretty much every press conference when asked about transfers either in or out the club. Hopkins Posted 25 June, 2012 Share Posted 25 June, 2012 The fact that we like to do our business in private and probably asked the agent not to mention our name in any quotes? Ignoring the fact that as CB Fry has pointed out, that is probably utter guff... I didn't realise we were the only club in the prem that likes to do things in private? Saint Charlie Posted 26 June, 2012 Share Posted 26 June, 2012 Back on topic...Sivok looked good for the Czechs and can play centre back or centre midfield. Would be a good signing (if we are really interestd and the agent isn't just drumming up more interest or hurrying Sevilla).
EBS1980 Posted 26 June, 2012 Share Posted 26 June, 2012 Another thread taken off subject! Any chance of the Tomas Sivok thread being used to discuss Tomas Sivok? Turkish Posted 26 June, 2012 Share Posted 26 June, 2012 He seems like a decent signing as he's on a free although the fact that Thomas Pekhart is a Czech international doesn't say much about their national team* * this post is entirely serious and not meant to be taken as sarcastic or pointless. These views are just my opinion and in no way a deliberate attempt at upsetting The delicate little flowers who post or moderate on this forum. Crazy Diamond Posted 26 June, 2012 Share Posted 26 June, 2012 Christ, well starting this thread was completely pointless... Most of these threads ARE pointless. They're always full of people who say that someone we've briefly been linked with is either good or bad, and 90% of them have NEVER seen them play. If they have it's fleeting appearances. It was absurd on Twitter how there were so many people ranting on about Rodriguez when they'd barely seen him kick a sodding ball and how he cost too much, but then it turned into euphoria when one urchin photographed him being unveiled under a tree. My thoughts on Sivok? Barely heard of the guy, he's apparently wanted by a La Liga club which is no indication of how good he is, it's an indication as to a couple of scout's thoughts on him. Do we need more midfielders? Maybe. At least if he is a free transfer then there can be no arguing over his fee.

Gordon Mockles Posted 26 June, 2012 Share Posted 26 June, 2012 Well it's either a true story or a complete Turkey Haha. That's about as insightful as ITV commentary. "The team to score next, breaks the deadlock". I appreciate the tongue in cheek tone. It's ITV banality or inane comments from Lawrenson. At least Sky have decent coverage.
