No no no no no no no no no no no no no.

He can ****ing well stay in Newcastle. Him and McGoldrick are the stuff of nightmares. I'm never going to forgive nor forget his woeful performances - especially given that he constantly bloody moaned when he wasn't being played and was awful when he did play.

Surely we've added our only striker to the squad? Then again, The Daily Fail (Mail) reported some German was signing for Arsenal when he's just signed for Dortmund

Wasn't my favourite player in the world and I don't want us to sign him, but I think the level of hate directed towards Best from Saints fans is a bit OTT. He scored some important goals which helped us get into the play-offs, before he had that nightmare game at Derby. Not like he scored the OG/missed the penalty on purpose. He's obviously got a lot better since he left us and has a respectable scoring record for Newcastle in the Premier League

Could be part of our triumphant return to the reserves league?

The southampton way is now win every competition you have been entered in, no matter how rubbish it is.... -_-

Balance it out. Did he do more harm or more good? Harm. Ability wise how good is he? Not very good. Hence why I don't like him.

Who's to say, long term he may have done us a favour, would we have been taken over by Markus Liebherr if we had not gone into Administration. We might still be struggling along under the guidance of "he who shall not be named" if we had won against Derby and then been promoted under Whisky George. Then again.

Still wouldn't really want him back, he is unfairly maligned but he is still not really that good and always gives the impression of not being arsed.

No no no no no. Maybe if our ambition is to be relegated and settle into a mid-Championship level then fine. But this signing would be devoid of ambition.

Definite no from me, never go back and all that.

But, no doubt that he is a much better player now than he was with us and has scored a few more goals for Newcastle in the Prem than i ever imagined he would. From recent interviews he also seems to have lost sort of the attitude as well.

So in fact, the Southampton way is to continue failing - thanks for clearing that up!

Yeah saw this today. Blackburn must be absolutely gutted. £3m for a prem striker in the hope he will get the goals to get them back up, and straight-away injured in pre-season meaning he misses the first half of the season at least.

Thinking they'd signed a Prem striker was their first mistake.
