positivepete Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/jun/23/england-roy-hodgson-euro-2012 About leaking news from the England camp.......
Saint_clark Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 He's right. Beattie has never struck me as professional in all honesty. What he did there was disgraceful.
stthrobber Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 James Beattie in 'complete and utter c*ck' shocker. Complete surprise
hamster Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 Mot did similar, foolishly disclosing stuff to his brother iirc. But we all love Matt so it's okay.

hamster Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 MLT did similar, foolishly disclosing stuff to his brother iirc. But we all love Matt so it's okay.
dronskisaint Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 I discount James' version because he's a skate
Stepgar Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 He he was silly but even more frustratingly was the England team going on strike (threatening). Pre madonnas. Who do they think they are. Rio should have taken the test simples no excuses none! Just goes to show he arrogance England has, and this could be the reason that we more often than not fail on the international stage. Too many people think that they are better than they are. We are in general a very arrogant nation.

Too many people think that they are better than they are. We are in general a very arrogant nation. Totally agree. Then rio has the front to be outraged when not selected Thank god that era has gone. The circus, the sense of entitlement. This lot seem genuinely proud, happy to be out there. Obviously, Roy is part of that change too The only player from that era who I really respect was beckham. You know he would do anything just to play for England
Colinjb Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 I remember that documentary... not great television but there was a genuine novelty of having the insight from a player trying to establish himself in the national team. Of course doing something like that to raise your own profile at the expense of the team will only serve to a achieve exactly the opposite. No need to slate the skate on this one, he's just confirming what we already knew, Beatts was a bit of a cock.
Mattio Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 TBH a few of my mates met David James when he was playing for Pompey and he was still very chatty with them and even had a bit of banter, still a sh*t keeper though!

I will also throw one in there. my old boss lives in Chudleigh...a village about 20 miles outside plymouth..which is where james lives. He is really well liked in the village. very down to earth, really nice person and does a massive amount for the village in terms of helping get schemes off the ground and generally helping out in the community
Colinjb Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 which documentary? A documentary followed three players with international ambition on the run up to Euro 2004, they where all given portable cameras and recorded 'behind the scenes insight,' which was then shown on Sky 1. Beatts was one of the three, I forget who the other two were.
Monk Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 'David James's fee for this column has been donated to chairty' I know somewhere that money would be appreciated.
benjii Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 David James has always struck me as a really good bloke.
eelpie Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 He's right. Beattie has never struck me as professional in all honesty. What he did there was disgraceful. especially if he 'revealed all' on camera shocker!.
oldskoolsi Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 To be fair in the article, David James referred to the Beattie case as an extreme one but he also said you shouldn't discuss what happens in the England camp with anyone and gives the example of not telling Rio how training went. Matt failed to do this.
Golden Balls Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 (edited) A documentary followed three players with international ambition on the run up to Euro 2004, they where all given portable cameras and recorded 'behind the scenes insight,' which was then shown on Sky 1. Beatts was one of the three, I forget who the other two were. Forgot all about that. I think the other two were John Terry and Ashley Cole. I just remember Beattie being over flash in the documentary. Didn't come across too well Edited 24 June, 2012 by Golden Balls
RobM Posted 24 June, 2012 Posted 24 June, 2012 Beattie in being a bit of a **** shocker. Who would have thought. Muffin, anyone?
Dimond Geezer Posted 25 June, 2012 Posted 25 June, 2012 It explains why they refused to pass to him though.
OldNick Posted 25 June, 2012 Posted 25 June, 2012 Mot did similar, foolishly disclosing stuff to his brother iirc. But we all love Matt so it's okay. MLT took the blame at the time but it came in the press afterwards that it was Steve McManaman who did the damage as he had a column in an Italian paper and he was responsible for the leak
hamster Posted 25 June, 2012 Posted 25 June, 2012 Can't you see a difference between telling a family member you're in the squad because you're excited about it, and disclosing info directly to the media about other squad members? Yep, I can see the difference, as I pointed out, we all love Matty but Beatts not so. Its the same but different but it's still the same in principle.
sambosa75 Posted 25 June, 2012 Posted 25 June, 2012 It explains why they refused to pass to him though. Good shout. I remember watching his few caps, absolutely convinced certain players were refusing to pass to him.
hamster Posted 25 June, 2012 Posted 25 June, 2012 Why did no one want to pass to Rooney last night? Maybe cos he didn't need to tell the media he was playing as he HAD to play, it had been written. Maybe others have had afaithfull of players picking themselves?
