Taking out the 4 home associaions as well as the FAI, my team would be:

Niemi

Golac Monkou Svensson Skacel

Kachloul Schneiderlin Ekelund Berkovic

Ostenstad Pahars

Subs: Keller Petrescu Fonte Lee Jones

(not quite old enough to judge on whether Charlie Miller was worth a place as the token Brazilian. Got to be better than Guly though).

I love threads like this.

Gets people talking without bickering and it's all football, no politics (not that I mind those but they always descend into slagging off sessions and negativity)

Need a thoughtful smiley thingy

Bloody happy-clappy, must be difficult typing with foam hands on !

Bet you sat in front of the PC wearing face paint .... stone island... I go to more games than you and was going to The Dell when I was a foetus....

my season ticket is bigger than yours ...COYR ....blah, blah...;)

Actually, totally agree with you, always enjoy reminiscing some of former players and times (even the dark times don't seem so desperate in hindsight, although perhaps thats because of how things have gone).

But what I'g give to have Golac, Michael Svennson, or Niemi in their prime avalable to us next season.

Maybe Kanchelskis on the right would be a good addition. OK, his single appearance for us was not exactly memorable, but he wasn't bad in his prime.

From their time with us, Sergei Gotsmanov is probably more deserving.

Alexi cherednik..sp..another Russian right back I seem to recall!

Tried to do this the other day with slightly different criteria.. Could you do a saints 11 based on internationals that could of played at the euro championships....excluding English players.... Now that was tough...but you have poles czechs, etc to fill the 11.....

That looks like you have put as many foreign players as you can remember and assumed that Le Tissier is the best English player we have ever had. Let me put forward a few suggestions per country rather than per position (just as a start not an exhaustive list!):

England: Le Tissier, Shearer, Keegan, Shilton, Channon, Payne, Osgood, Ball, Case

Wales: Bale, R. Davies, Rodrigues, Paul Jones

France: Fernandes, Colleter, Schneiderlin, Bernard

Republic of Ireland: Kenna, Connolly

Sweden: M.Svensson, A.Svensson,

Norway: Lundekvam, Tessem, Ostenstad

Yugoslavia (Croatia): Golac, Katalinic

Latvia: Pahars

Brazil: Guly

Trinidad & Tobago: Kenwyne Jones

N.Ireland: Nicholl, Baird, Clarke, Dowie, Magilton

Poland: Rasiak, Saganowski, Andruszewski

Senegal: Waigo

Japan: Lee

Romania: Petrescu

Ecuador: Delgado, Chala

Portugal: Fonte

Holland: Hooiveld, Monkou

Finland: Niemi

Czechoslovakia/Czech Republic: Rudi Skacel

Scotland: McCalliog, MacDougall

Nigeria: Agboola

Denmark: Ekelund

Morocco: Kachloul

I particularly want to highlight the English players. My heart says Le Tissier as well, but many people would argue that you cannot put him ahead of Keegan, Ball, etc.

How could you forget Imants Bledielis, especially after his stunning 45 minute role in our 3-4 loss away at Tranmere in 2001.
