Verbal Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 (edited) Why? Personalities - usual stuff. Imagine a group of people all like CB Fry. Doesn't detract from its popularity though (although not my cup of tea). Edited 23 June, 2012 by Verbal
TopGun Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 I loved the episode where they uncovered that amazing Roman villa.
Whitey Grandad Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 The last series was crap. They changed the format and moved production to somewhere west. Mick Aston left in disgust and I don't blame him. The new presenter Mary-Ann Ochota has also left. They meddled with a much-loved product.

buctootim Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 (edited) It's a very unhappy production. Interesting. I do quite like the programme but the enthusiasm always seemed a bit synthetic and Tony Robinson irritates too. pedg Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 Went to an evening with Tony Robinson thing a few years back and he gave no impression it was an unhappy production. Showed some footage of where someone made a cardboard replica of one of the geophysic things and then ran said replica over in front of the geophysics people as a practical joke. Said there was lots of joking and ****taking going on that does not make the programs.
andysstuff Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 Love it. If I had my time again, would seroiously consider a career in archaeology on the back of it.

Doesn't detract from its popularity though (although not my cup of tea). You would have thought the millionaire socialist Tony Robinson would cultivate a happy ship! Seriously though I would think that if everyone was genuinely passionate about what they were doing then it would make for a cheerful working environment. pedg Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 Main problem with Time Team now is that they suffer like many other programs with paddingwithcheapepisodescutfromoldepisodesitis.
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 Yep. A strange assumption to make given that I merely expressed a thought rather than an opionion.
Verbal Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 A strange assumption to make given that I merely expressed a thought rather than an opionion. An opinion IS a thought (unless your thoughts are somehow dug up from the garden). An opionion, on the other hand, is clearly the absence of thought. Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 Just did. Now go and watch the footie. Yes you expressed an opinion based on the assumption that you know about how television works. Sadly I am having to watch 'Made in Dagenham' because my wife believes in equal rights.

Danish Saint Posted 23 June, 2012 Share Posted 23 June, 2012 Hate that show! Archaeology done in three days? You're having a laugh! It's shallow, reckless, highly speculative and everyone works for free.....
