JPTCount Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 thanks, but we aren't all guardian readers, so wots the clue...
The Kraken Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 Is the answer "ooh Terry Hurlock"? I haven't got the Guardian so I don't know what the clue is. I imagine I'm right, though.
vin Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 Tis here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/crosswords/cryptic/25669
Tokyo-Saint Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 I've got the M from 24 down and the T from 18 down but have no idea what this one could be
RonManager Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 I managed to cram 'breathtakingly exquisite' into the four boxes, before being chased out of the newsagents.
St_Tel49 Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 I've got the M from 24 down and the T from 18 down but have no idea what this one could be Mist - no can't possibly be that!!
Hatch Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 Matt (le tissier) yeah, we know it's him, but whats the answer?
The Cat Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 After reading the OP, I just turned to look at the Quick Crossword on the back of G2 (that's the Guardian's daily supplement for all our plebby tabloid readers) and the clue for 24 across on that is: Arrogant - Pompous (4, 3, 6) That's Saints related too as the answer is clearly "Dune and Alpine".
Crazy Diamond Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 Didn't read the crossword, was too busy wiping my arse with that page. It's about all the Guardian is useful for.
suewhistle Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 Didn't read the crossword, was too busy wiping my arse with that page. It's about all the Guardian is useful for. It's got pictures too, you know. Maybe not ones with big boobs, and it's perhaps a little to the left of the Daily Fail, but what isn't?
Crazy Diamond Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 It's got pictures too, you know. Maybe not ones with big boobs, and it's perhaps a little to the left of the Daily Fail, but what isn't? I don't really read the newspapers, but then that's typical of the situation the industry is in. Hardly anyone reads papers these days and there can't be much life left in them.

Crazy Diamond Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 Speak for yourself. Readership figures and sales figures say more than I would ever need to.
buctootim Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 (edited) Around 9 million copies of paid for morning newspapers sold each day and another 1.5 million evening. Readership is around 50% higher than circulation - so around 16 million each day. Not exactly "hardly anyone" Edited 22 June, 2012 by buctootim
Armitage Shanks Posted 22 June, 2012 Posted 22 June, 2012 After reading the OP, I just turned to look at the Quick Crossword on the back of G2 (that's the Guardian's daily supplement for all our plebby tabloid readers) and the clue for 24 across on that is: Arrogant - Pompous (4, 3, 6) That's Saints related too as the answer is clearly "Dune and Alpine". No it isn't. The answer is "Lowe, top Wan&er"
