alpine_saint Posted 10 July, 2012 Share Posted 10 July, 2012 FIFA say no problem.... Don't panic, PFA & Lawyers all reckon Green has lost the plot. More worried about the Buttner issue tbh Davis is a more important addition. Balls in midfield. Fox and Lallana will continue to do the job if Büttner falls through and we have to move on to another target. Personally, I am marvelling at how transfers turn into a f*cking circus act in the PL. Wes Tender Posted 10 July, 2012 Share Posted 10 July, 2012 Embarrassed how we're knocking Glasgow Rangers, of all the clubs in the UK, for a couple of million quid. Admittedly a different scenario, but lets not forget the Theo Walcott deal with Arsenal. They could have stiffed us big time. We should pay some compensation, lets show a bit of class. I'm not in the least bit embarrassed. The player has exercised his right not to sign a new contract with Rangers Newco, his contract with Oldco being null and void following their liquidation, so he is a free agent. Let's not forget that we were also shafted when we went into administration and had to shift players. I'm far more concerned that we show good business accumen rather than a degree of class, which would only have the effect of showing us up as a soft touch rather than astute business people. It is only the law of the jungle that when there are bones to be picked, the vultures circle. Instead of being a bit precious about it, consider that money saved on one transfer is money available to put towards another. And that it is financial astuteness that will ensure that we don't end up in the gutter like Rangers and more so the Skates, or indeed ourselves three years ago. alpine_saint Posted 10 July, 2012 Share Posted 10 July, 2012 This story with international clearance being refused yet again shows how pathetic the Scottish FA are over the Rangers issue. I mean, why are the SFA even considering that the clearance refusal is valid coming from the newco ?

The Kraken Posted 10 July, 2012 Share Posted 10 July, 2012 So how long is this situation likely to take to get sorted? I doubt it matters how long. The players have been granted temporary clearance from FIFA while their investigation takes place into Rangers' appeal for compensation. Once that gets revealed for being the sham it is by all the lawyers then they'll get full clearance. The Scottish PFA said they were fully expecting this from Rangers. Being as they employ lawyers and have advised the players that they are free agents, its fair to assume they are pretty confident of the status of the actual situation. The Kraken Posted 10 July, 2012 Share Posted 10 July, 2012 Past tense ? Has this already occurred ? Good point, apparently not. I saw that Kyle Lafferty had already played for FC Sion so assumed it had happened, but it appears on further inspection that he played without having clearance. Reading back the BBC report it says temporary clearance will be given, not has been already. So Lafferty/FC Sion could be in a bit of trouble. mirra Posted 10 July, 2012 Share Posted 10 July, 2012 Can't believe anybody has any sympathy for these cheating gits. By going bust they have shafted Rapid Vienna for a million but insist Everton pay the full wack on the subsequent transfer. They also stuffed Hearts for £800k for Wallace who continues to play for them today ! Add in all the millions owed, tax dodging, dual contracts & constant threats to all & sundry, and some people want to "show a bit of class" ? 96% of Scottish fans, including most of their own, want them to start at the bottom of Div 3. But their friends at the SFA/SPL are trying to rip up the rules to chase the money. They deserve NOTHING !
Lord Duckhunter Posted 10 July, 2012 Share Posted 10 July, 2012 There was a bloke on Talksport last night, was some sort of expert on Scots football and Rangers. He said that it was the Scottish FA doing what they do best and sitting on the fence, said that they cant make a decision so have handed it to FIFA. Went on to add that his understanding was that the players were on very firm ground and that the only people who he'd spoken to that belived that Rangers had a case were Rangers themselves. VectisSaint Posted 10 July, 2012 Share Posted 10 July, 2012 Seems the SFA is an even more pointless organisation than its English counterpart. The SFA are just being cautious, while there is a legal dispute going on, however clear cut it appears to be the SFA cannot be seen to support one side or t'other. If they did and by some fluke Green won his case then the SFA would be up a gum tree. What they have done is perfectly reasonable, and the clubs involved will be able to move on with a temporary clearance from FIFA. In the end the worst that is going to happen is that SFC will have to pay compensation to Newco, although this is highly unlikely. Its all a non-issue. Steve Davis will not be playing in Scotland next season.
mirra Posted 10 July, 2012 Share Posted 10 July, 2012 Green CAN'T hold their registration anyway. To do that he would first have to own a football club who were members of the SFA. His Newco are not. His Newco are merely "owners" of a stadium, training ground etc, although even that is under serious doubt ! Non story put about by the usual "friendly" Scottish press to put the fear into others.
