Jimmy_D Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Great signing on a free. Team is starting to take shape now.
hypochondriac Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Not necessarily a winger but definitely an attacking mid. I can't see Adkins getting an out and out winger. Well a right midfielder then whatever you want to call it.
hypochondriac Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 And a quick winger And keeper And another centre back And Buttner But we have a few weeks yet. That's why I said midfield almost sorted. A keeper, centre back and Buttner is the defence...
CityRanger Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Song for Steven Davis? Here's Rangers fans song for him: "Don't take our Davis away" is the chorus
wightman35 Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Well, that's a relief, then! A great signing imo as he has plenty of experience and some notable success already. Now for two goalkeepers, a right back, central defender and a winger who can cross the ball as well as beat Bolt over 50 metres.
The Kraken Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Not necessarily a winger but definitely an attacking mid. I can't see Adkins getting an out and out winger. What would you consider Matt Jarvis to be?
Colinjb Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 What would you consider Matt Jarvis to be? Based on Wolves' asking price, unrealistic.
dune Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Great signing on a free. Team is starting to take shape now. How do you know it's a free?
hypochondriac Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 It's a shame we have to go through the whole Davis Davies thing again...
CityRanger Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Here's Rangers fans song for Steven Davis: The chorus: "Don't take our Davis away". Er..
Colinjb Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 How do you know it's a free? He refused to sign with the Rangers new co and walked away. Even if we had a signing on fee to pay to the player (which seems to be standard), no fee will have been paid to his old club.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 How do you know it's a free? Because he wasn't contracted to a club.
dune Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 He refused to sign with the Rangers new co and walked away. Even if we had a signing on fee to pay to the player (which seems to be standard), no fee will have been paid to his old club. That's a bit underhand. I guess it's the way of the world, but I feel for Rangers - a club I have a lot of admiration for.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 That's a bit underhand. I guess it's the way of the world, but I feel for Rangers - a club I have a lot of admiration for. Why is it "underhand"? The Rangers he was contracted to n longer legally exist, so he wasn't under any obligation to sign for the new company which may end up in Scottish tier 4.
View From The Top Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 That's a bit underhand. I guess it's the way of the world, but I feel for Rangers - a club I have a lot of admiration for. Nothing underhand. As per employment law when Rangers were liquidated he became a free agent.
Chez Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Because he wasn't contracted to a club. so, neither was Fleck when he signed for Cov during the week. There was still a fee agreed. Thought you'd know that.
The Kraken Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 That's a bit underhand. I guess it's the way of the world, but I feel for Rangers - a club I have a lot of admiration for. Get used to it for Rangers. Naismith has gone to Everton, they'll very soon lose even more of their players for no fee.
gaz Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Rangers fans not impressed with Davis joining us. http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=230518
View From The Top Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 so, neither was Fleck when he signed for Cov during the week. There was still a fee agreed. Thought you'd know that. That nipper, IIRC, hadn't turned down a Newco contract as this lad had so, & I'm most likely wrong, they are similar but not the same.
Colinjb Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Rangers fans not impressed with Davis joining us. http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=230518 Not very nice about us are they? Maybe that's why the other SPL teams turned on them.
dune Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Nothing underhand. As per employment law when Rangers were liquidated he became a free agent. You know what I mean. I just feel for Gers fans who are going through all this crap and things like this just rub salt into the wounds.
The Kraken Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 That nipper, IIRC, hadn't turned down a Newco contract as this lad had so, & I'm most likely wrong, they are similar but not the same. Not according to this article. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18703444 Although I can't work out why there was a fee, even if it is in the guise of a sell-on clause. Maybe just an act of courtesy by Cov?
Verbal Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Rangers fans not impressed with Davis joining us. http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=230518 Bitter and twisted. Excellent.
Colinjb Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Expect him to be captain Agreed. With respect to Hamster, I think his job has been fulfilled.
View From The Top Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 You know what I mean. I just feel for Gers fans who are going through all this crap and things like this just rub salt into the wounds. I agree, it's not nice, especially as I've been to Ibrox on a number of occasions & had a great time.

Green stated in the media that he would take legal action against players that sign for other clubs. He doesn't have a leg to stand on legally. Coventry have huge money issues of their own and their owners were so scared of the possibility of legal action they came to an agreement with Rangers. There really was no need, I very much doubt Everton and Saints have done the same as SISU at Coventry. Coventry merely covering their backs, Saints and Everton won't be worried, legal action won't happen, Davis, Naismith etc are free to sign for whoever they want.
View From The Top Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Agreed. With respect to Hamster, I think his job has been fulfilled. Burnley want him.
Colinjb Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Burnley want him. Would still want to keep him for depth for a year.
woodsaint Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Song for Steven Davis? Here's Rangers fans song for him: "Don't take our Davis away" is the chorus Been to many a northern ireland match, great song, great player

buctootim Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Maybe its because he's 21 so a development fee is due.
Matthew Le God Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Maybe its because he's 21 so a development fee is due. Not to the new company it wouldn't.
The Kraken Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Maybe its because he's 21 so a development fee is due. I considered that at first; but the development fee would be due to the oldco, who no longer exist. And this is an agreement with Rangers to pay a percentage of any sell on fee, not a transfer fee or development fee. I reckon MLG has it about right.
Nexstar Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Sounds like a good signing, although I can't say I've seen him play myself. You don't become Rangers and NI captain by being rubbish, he's a good age and on a free. Have seen quite a few WBA fans on twitter moaning that they've missed a trick here. Now, a GK and a CB and a right-winger and we are set...

You don't know, for certain. That said, I agree, I doubt we will have.
dubai_phil Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Let's not get too excited about the International Footballer line. Alan Blayney has played 5 times for NI
Colinjb Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 the fact remains, as Dune says, how do you know for sure? You don't know, for certain. That said, I agree, I doubt we will have. Cortese's suits v the newco Rangers. I know who I would back.
Dr Octopus Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=230518 Thread only just started mind Now that's funny.
The Kraken Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Cortese's suits v the newco Rangers. I know who I would back. Nicky C a givva him a message he canna refuse.
Colinjb Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Ok, apparently we're 'Sh*tey no mark's Send them down to SD3.
dune Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Cortese's suits v the newco Rangers. I know who I would back. The Mafia v The UDA/UVF. Could turn nasty.
buctootim Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 The Mafia v The UDA/UVF. Could turn nasty. The Long Good Friday
Saint J 77 Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Now for two goalkeepers, a right back, central defender and a winger who can cross the ball as well as beat Bolt over 50 metres. Sounds about right to me
EBS1980 Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 So what's left... Gk? Rb? Cb? Rm? Who would people like us to get to fill the gaps?
Patrick Bateman Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Here's Rangers fans song for Steven Davis: The chorus: "Don't take our Davis away". Er.. Nice, that'll do. We aren't overly original so may as well steal that too!
Under Weststand Posted 6 July, 2012 Posted 6 July, 2012 Just got in good news, all starting to come together now. Good signing today & with Buttner to come. Priority's now would be a CB, Right Winger & Goalkeeper.
