Anyone have info on him? Or a rangers forum to see what they think?

 

General gist is that he is a workhorse, a consistent performer. Doesn't turn in a 9/10 one week and a 5/10 the next.

 

Just consistently 7 & 8 /10.

 

Does a lot of work supposedly, not glamorous but can play some good stuff.

Great news. Morgan, Cork and Davis is a very strong central midfield three, even if Morgan is untested in the Premier League. I wouldn't be surprised to see one more central midfielder come in, although perhaps Hammond will utilised as the fourth.

Thanks for that. I wonder where he will play and who he will play in place of? I hope we get a winger in soon. A CB and winger (and maybe a RB) is what we need now and we are sorted!

Cheers. Always a good feeling if they are gutted. I remember reading a Bristol Rovers forum and feeling smug when it said how upset they were to lose Lambert.

I think we are ok for central midfielders now. Its funny with this signing and possibly signing Butter we seem to be strengthening it places I thought were already strong. We definitely need a new centre back and goal keeper asap, I am sure they will get them in before the start of the season though. It would just be nice to have the new players in the squad for the start of pre-season.

When he first broke into the Villa side I'm pretty sure Fergie was said to have been an admirer.

 

He was, that's the one.

 

Very highly rated when he was at Villa, was pretty good when he played too. I believe Fulham then paid £6m for him, and it didn't quite work out there as they had a succession of managers. He then went and made a name for himself in the SPL.

A right winger has to be a priority too surely.

Reaction seems to be quite positive. I'd like to see him play before making a judgement, but to sign a proven international player who has accumulated quite a sum of money in transfer fees, played in the top flight for a long time, all on a free? I suspect that's going to prove good business for us.

Like you say the proof will come when we see him play.

 

But this is one signing that I'm really happy about, I feel we need a bit of top level experience and quality at CM and CB, and this ticks the box for CM completely. We now have Davis to help along the great potential of Morgan and Jack Cork, looks decent. A similar type signing at CB and it'll really look like taking shape.

He's from Ballymena-HAI! (that's how the all talk and isn't just the stereo-type all ni people have of the place).

 

Anyway, signing of the season for the club so far! Should be the perfect compliment to Cork and Morg in midfield and even with a fairly substance wage wage a free signing is a free signing! Cannot wait to see him play (easily the best player NI have) so things can only get better.

Sounds like a decent player. Midfield is almost sorted and attack is good to go. Need to work on the defence...

But we have a few weeks yet. :)

Not necessarily a winger but definitely an attacking mid. I can't see Adkins getting an out and out winger.
