I keep hounding media and fake agents on twitter?!

What about:

@ConnorArmstrong

@Gregvul

@hartysaintboy2

????

If they're on there, I'm gonna ask questions but I do not 'hound' media and fake agents on twitter. There are others who spend far more time than me on Twitter asking these people but thats the point of the service. I want to know about any Saints information, agents and media outlets etc are on there so I ask questions. What is wrong with that?

If you don't like it, don't read it or block me / unfollow me. Simple.

Calm down dear

If you lot on here want information then you have to ask around and go digging. I'm no more hounding than a lot of others on Twitter who are non stop, non stop on and on at journos like Alan Nixon and Graeme Bailey, but I ask once or possibly twice about an initial subject and 9 times out of 10 no more than that. There are others who the first thing they do on twitter each day are straight onto it and copying the same 'Any Saints news today?' or 'Hi are we any closer to the so and so deal?' to every possible media guy available. I use it mainly as a Saints information outlet, yes, but if a journalist or agent or someone related to football on there mentions something about Saints or related players, the natural reaction is to ask for more information.

If you don't ask, you usually don't get...

I wouldn't worry about it, we have some right weirdos here who don't like it when anyone else knows something they don't. I barely ever bother going on twitter, but if you want to go and dig a bit then post it on here, there's no harm in just asking, is there ?

That's the thing though, it's not a case of knowing something others don't, you have no idea what I know and vice versa but I really don't care. Hardly constitutes being weird.

Um, no, but getting massively upset about it and chucking insults about because of it would be, they would be the weirdos.

Was chatting to a Rangers fan last night.

Their lot are convinced Davis to Saints is as good as done? Apparently we are giving him a £2m signing on fee - hence is willingness to jump ship.

I said(& think) it seems an odd one, with central midfield probably being one of our stronger positions, with Morgan & Cork being two of out best players (IMO).

Anyway, just thought I'd pass this on, not so sure of this myself.

It isn't strange at all. We have two CM players that are possibly premier class. We definitely need a third.

Yeah I guess, it just sounds a lot to give a player that hardly set the world alight in his last stint in the Premier League. Based on the words of this Rangers fan, who has seen a lot more of the fella than myself (I haven't seen a huge amount if I'm being honest) and his thoughts were he has a tendency to go missing for long periods in big games.

Just doesn't seem to go along with the transfer policy of signing players better than what we have, he also doesn't seem to possess the 'character' we look for in players.

I could quite easily be wrong, I thought England wouldn't win a game at the Euro's, so what do I know?

Davis would be a safe bit of business although not sure a £2m signing on fee if true would be absolute best value. He'll do a job and certainly compete with Morgan, Cork and Chaplow, possibly Lallana if Adkins brings him more in the centre of the pitch next season. Michu would be more interesting as he sounds better than what we have but the trail has gone cold. Whittaker is a reasonable player and on paper a good free transfer but Lowe went down that route with signing lots of players like Mickael Nilsson and Kenton and look where that headed so happy to leave that one with Norwich.

.and of course, you're correct ....except when one or other or both ...of the above...is injured, or is suspended.... or loses form...then you have the real problem.

As last season when Seaborne was suddenly out and Fonte had a bit of form loss. Fortunately Jos Hooiveld proved to be an able replacement, and even Aaron Martin showed great promise when called upon. That might not happen every time that a similar crisis occurs.

Having players capable of being in competition with others... is what the squad system is really about.

To have your star performers out (for any reason) and then having to put in an inexperienced, albeit promising, sub. only leads to problems when it takes time for the "newcomer " to fit in. Points will be hard enough to come by in this division, and we can't afford time for someone to " play themselves in " for a month or two if the " regular player" is out for any length of time. We need top grade players (within fiscal means) to fill every position ...from goalie UP...

I don't disagree. Personally I'm not sure how up to it Chappers & Hammond are. I could be wrong.

There is need for competition for places. However, what I meant was that from what little I have seen and what Gers fans have told me, Davis doesn't seem to go along with our policy of signing better than what we already have?

Quite simply Hammond isn't up to it, and Chaplow is a bit part player at best. The amount the later gave the ball away cheaply in the championship won't have gone unnoticed, do that in the prem and we'll get murdered.

Of course he runs around a lot so most saints fans think he's the second coming and i'll get a barrage of abuse for this, in the same way i did when i suggested Jaidi was a distance off being good enough for the championship.

Chaplow seems to have been elevated to some sort of footballing god in some fans eyes due to his 5 or 6 decent performances around October time. He was decent when he joined, had a purple patch in October but for the rest of his time here has been pretty average. Like you say though, he runs around a lot, which is all a lot fans seem to think matters.

Chaplow seems to play to the level of the opposition. I think he needs the additional motivation of playing top clubs to be at his best - or playing against a darren ferguson team...

Definitely punched above his weight. But the qualities Chaplow brings -the ability to make runs from deep into the box and press high up the pitch- were sorely missed at times last season. We need upgrade on Chaplow, even if the original is not up to it.

Chaplow was indeed quality for a good few games and then never lived up to those performances after he came back from injury. In one or two of the games he was absent, I thought we missed him.

You'll never find me disagreeing on the whole running around = good performance bit though. Working hard doesn't mean playing well.

Look at James Milner in Euro 2012. Always praised for working hard, yet he was terrible. Against Sweden we were all told that they were vulnerable from crosses so we had to get as many of them in the box as we could. Milner couldn't even beat his first man, let alone get a cross to Carroll's head. That's Andy Carroll - the huge target man.

he's certainly no football god, but having a few hard running players in your side is important.

I'm sure TDD probably knows a couple of Royal Marines that are fit enough for that role.

But if we are talking football, then someone who can maintain possession and make an accurate pass and has good close control skills while running around would be a better addition.

Thing with Chappers is he took another injury to his knee (had it fixed down here) AFTER he came back from that he was not the same player. Considering the Doc who did the work here is one of the global specialists that PL players go to when the knee needs something a bit more than the usual keyhole stuff MAY indicate that his drop off in form and consistency are linked to the injury.

Now Chaplow at the start of last season may be able to cut it in the PL. The Chaplow who played in the latter end of the season is NOT going to make it no matter how much he runs around. The latter Chappers needs replacing. It must be the med staff & Nige's call. Doesn't stop them finding someone better at running around aimlessly than a Royal Marine - a Gareth Barry for example :rolleyes:

May be absolute ******** who knows, but his brother is mates has spoken with Davis. Wouldn't be something for a Liverpool fan to make up surely? Just thought the thread could do with updating. One to keep an eye on IMO.

JasonNevinBrown: My bro spoke to Steven Davis. Most likely going to southampton. Nothing agreed tho #lfc

JasonNevinBrown: Steven Davis travelling to Southampton tomorrow night. Expects to sign on Wednesday unless another offer comes in #lfc

I don't disagree at all. He was our weakest link in the latter stages of the season (when he got a game) and gave the ball away far too cheaply. He doesn't belong in a team that tries to play tappy tappy football - certainly not at Premier League level.

Another update by the same guy who tweeted the recent news.

@JasonNevinBrown: Steven Davis been contacted by a premier league manager today. Travel to Southampton postponed. Still in glasgow. 1/2

@JasonNevinBrown: Davis is injured. Nothing serious. Spoke to other Southampton players and got positive feedback. Still expects to go to Southampton 2/2
