Minty Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 The SFA is a worse-run organisation than the UK Government. I'm the first to admit I haven't followed proceedings closely but from what I have read, it seems the the SFA have simply been going through the process quite normally, with various things needing to be sorted out, much of it through lawyers, and that takes time. Frankly the blame lies entirely with Rangers for me... all of this has only been necessary because of their predicament and the SFA have to go through due process. Anyway, it seems that we have the licence now and it's only the 'Escrow'-type situation that has created any doubt, but that's now between them up there... Saint in Paradise Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 reading the article we've been the only club to offer a payment. I'd like to think this was from the goodness of our heart but I suspect there is some clever reason for us not trying to get him on a free. NC probably heard that pimpey were going to offer higher wages than Saints so by putting money down that would rule out pimpey. Don't forget they have outbid Doncaster for Simon Gillet by saying they would pay higher wages than Doncaster can afford.
Professor Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 It appears we still don't have his registration as the Rangers mess hasn't been cleared up (as the SFA are so inept they haven't sorted out their division 3 place 3 weeks before the season starts). We've given them some money to get the hell on with letting us have our new player but it seems this is one of those situations throwing money hasn't worked (as the SFA are just retarded and are still fighting to make cash out of Rangers and get them up a league or two). Hopefully in a week or so FIFA will turn up with a firing squad and sort this nonsense out, we all can see Rangers are trying to retain registration for players they no longer have contracted to try and worm their way back into better parts of scottish football and magic money they don't deserve. The quicker FIFA act with the boot of oppression the better for everyone. I don't think you will find that the members of the SFA are retarded. It is more likely that they are intelligent individuals who are faced with an unprecedented situation concerning a major club in Liquidation and a buy out of the club name and assets by another company. This probably introduces complications that do not have simple easy solutions and a requirement to be even handed between the competing interests. It is a complication that the SFA themselves are an interested party because the loss of the 'Old Firm' Derbies is a huge loss of revenue to Scottish football, which may be why it needs an independent source, such as FIFA to help resolve the problems. What does seem clear is that Davis is now a contracted Saints' player but until his registration is logged he is unable to play. That is something that FIFA can resolve, on a temporary basis first if necessary.

Does that mean we can withdraw our 'offer' of cash to newco Rangers if FIFA sort the registrations out before the SFA get their act together? Given the desired effect (i.e. speeding up the registration) of offering cash doesn't actually appear to have made any difference.

Poor choice of language on my part, every action of the SPL and SFA have been to try and accept that Rangers have done wrong/need punishment but with a solution that leaves the old firm intact. This has been entirely because neither organisation see any money in the game without the old firm which is just a dull waste of time (and shows their complete lack of business sense). It's very frustrating to watch as this has been one massive waste of time with neither Scottish authority showing any authority of the situation. FIFA need to turn up quickly and tell them to pack it in or loose more European places, the only good threat left but should have the desired effect. Does that mean we can withdraw our 'offer' of cash to newco Rangers if FIFA sort the registrations out before the SFA get their act together? Given the desired effect (i.e. speeding up the registration) of offering cash doesn't actually appear to have made any difference. Hopefully, we shouldn't really be giving them money at all, especially as Rangers can't now withdraw their objection and SFA investigation into the change of registration. Could be a moment to charge interest on the cash...
Village Saint Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 I think you will find that there is a very straight forward explanation here. International transfers have to be approved via the respective FAs and all payments must go from a club registered with one FA to another registered with another FA. As yet there is no Rangers FC registered with the Scottish FA and so no-one for the money to legitimately go to. Clearly the FAs cant authorise payment to another party who are not a club (this would be against the rules for obvious reasons). As soon as, and if, Rangers are accepted by the Scottish FA (which will have to be Friday if their game at Brechin (?) is to go ahead) and all will then go ahead. This would remove any remaining possibility of issues with Davis's registration, although this has been temporaily approved anyway.
cambsaint Posted 25 July, 2012 Share Posted 25 July, 2012 If we were Ranger's fans, then we'd be furious if a club used a legal loophole not to pay any compensation. Personally I think we've done the right thing as long it goes to help the new club get going again.
