An update from the SFA website:

Why have the Scottish FA blocked the transfer of Rangers players to other clubs?

The Scottish FA issued a guidance note, based on legal advice and without prejudice, to both Rangers FC and PFA Scotland. Certain players have now chosen not to transfer across under TUPE regulations and, instead, agreed contracts elsewhere.

On a procedural basis, the Scottish FA cannot process an International Transfer Certificate via FIFA’s Transfer Management System where there is an ongoing contractual dispute.

Rangers FC have confirmed that there is such a contractual dispute. In the meantime, the new club(s) can request a temporary transfer from FIFA in order that the player(s) is free to play while the dispute process unfolds. This process has commenced in relation to a number of the players in question.

At the request of one of the parties in dispute, the Scottish FA, through its Articles, can convene an Arbitration Panel, with either side selecting from a list of Panel members, with the two appointees subsequently selecting a Chair of the panel. Rangers FC have made such a request to the Scottish FA.

We would naturally seek an outcome as soon as possible.

The SFA has been asked to provide information by FIFA about why former Rangers players have been blocked from moving. http://bit.ly/OH2Ktx

Fine, by why havent FIFA granted the much-vaunted "temporary licences" in the meantime ?

The administration of football is power-hungry and incompetent.

Nige said post match that the deal is "done and dusted", so no worries there. Rangers don't have a leg to stand on in this situation anyway.

We shall see, Scottish Law is strange sometimes.Like the "unproven" verdict in criminal cases.

Not the most enthusiastic interview I've ever heard despite the awful interviewer trying to convince him he should be excited about everything.

Would have been better if the interviewer had thought of some questions that did not start "How excited are you ....?"

Hmmm....so from that can we assume Adkins is not being completely straight about the situation in his recent Saints Player interviews?

At the time of the signing Rangers hadn't protested the clearance of their transfer, so he (under the best legal assumption) was under the impression there should be no problem.

Bloody stupid of the old Rangers to protest when they have no leg to stand on and are just taking advantage of the SFA's blinding inability to do anything whilst their pet club shows up what a mess Scottish football is.

We'll be able to play him come August 19th because FIFA got involved at the start of the week demanding to know what all the fuss is about, so the SFA could risk fines and penalties of their own if they don't sort it out or at least respond to the letter by next monday. (A part of me see's the champions league berths being taken away from the spl if they don't sort it out soon)

Movement from FIFA at last on the players who left Rangers.

http://www.teamtalk.com/stoke-city/7920386/FIFA-rubber-stamp-Ness-deal?

Yeah, but not for our player yet.

Meanwhile, the SFA have made it clear that a precondition of Rangers membership is that they accept all punsihments meted out to oldco Rangers - meaning a transfer embargo in January and next summer.

Therefore, we can expect Rangers to dig their heels in even harder about letting Davis go...

PFA Scotland solicitor, Margaret Gribbon, of Bridge Litigation, told Press Association Sport: "I can confirm that Jamie Ness has been granted provisional clearance from FIFA.

"I am delighted about that and expect all other applications pending before FIFA to take the same course."

Exactly, I took that as Davis's clearance not being done yet.

read the link. why would stoke go into detail about any other player but their own

the first two paragraphs clearly give it away

Which contradicts their first paragraph :suspicious:

I am sure there will be no issue here.

You read the link. The spokesman for the Scottish PFA has said she expects the others to go through.

In English that means they arent through yet.

@officialsaints: As a result of the agreement between #SaintsFC and Rangers, Davis's contract will now run until the summer of 2016.

@officialsaints: Davis: "I'm delighted to get everything sorted. This is good news for all parties, and now we can all move forward." #saintsfc

"There was an element of uncertainty at how long it would take to get the transfer papers through, so I have to give credit to the Executive Chairman Nicola Cortese for wanting to get it done and removing the need for things to drag on any longer."

Hmm.

Now why would NC (our Evil Genius) give Rangers 800k for a player we did not (probably) have to pay anything for?

They don't have a decent goalkeeper of anything up there do they? You know, someone who could walk away from his contract? Or something

just to get it done IMO...I doubt it is £800k in one go either

He's not the sort of guy to sit around on unresolved issues, if something needs sorting then most of the time it's sorted fairly quickly. Makes a hell of a difference having a bit of money though.

Hey I agree entirely, but from NC's track record with other "seemingly to us" difficult transfers he has walked away.

Look, it's good news, just seems out of stereotype

Did the other clubs that have signed Rangers players have to pay anything? I thought this was water tight from a legal point of view?

From the general consensus we're held in high regard by Burnley and CPFC for our dealings with them, regarding Rodriguez and Clyne.

People who say we are difficult are those with an agenda who have lost out because of a deal falling through (i.e agents). We pull out of deals for the right reasons, but in the whole we seem to be a pretty professional outfit to deal with - hard, but fair.

Huh?

The STEREOTYPED track record as alluded to previously.

Examples of 200 page threads going back a couple of years, Jamal being one of them, Buttner POSSIBLY being another.

Stop trying to put me into a box that I don't inhabit. There are enough posters on here who post in the opinion of NC being that way.

Now, 4 players of quality have been picked up from Rangers for free, and yet we pay 800k. So just because NC has some cash you don't think that is deemed worthy of raising at least an eyebrow?

do you remember that tweet from an agent saying southampton are difficult to deal with about transfers....

this place had many of t he usual types kicking off saying NC was holding the club back.....etc etc

when in fact, the tweet turned out to be about us SELLING OxO and that we simply would not budge on the money up front issue

Good to see Cortese showing what a great guy he is and looking after a traditional British club in their hour of need. Well done Cortese.
