Bucks Saint Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 Sorry if this is posted deep in the other season ticket threads... I moved away to marry some years ago and kept up my season tickets. But following a divorce, I let them lapse, as I have a son who does not live with me. He is now 12 and having been to a 8-10 games per season for the past five or six, we would like to buy season tickets, but will not be going to perhaps 50% of home games (will attend some away games though). Mates either go to every game or are not able to afford to go at all. I am sure I have read how many others are finding it hard to justify season tickets, due to some weekend working etc. Does the idea of sharing two season tickets work for anyone? Ideally one adult and one under 17 ticket but open to discussion. As we dont have the Barcelona system of being able to resell season tickets through the club for individual matches, I am struggling to think of another way of not wasting a huge slug of cash. I appreciate the difficulties of agreeing who gets which games, fixture changes for tv, and so on but I think I could make it work. Any other helpful suggestions? PM me if any genuinely interested. Thanks
trousers Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 I'm in a similar boat - me and my 12 year old go to a similar number of games per season. I'd be interested in principle but (a) would need to clear the up front spend with the missus (!) and (b) would need to be convinced that the logistics would work (I.e. splitting the games up) The trouble is that I typically don't know what days I'm free to get to games until relatively close to the games. It's a good idea though which would be nice to see if there's any chance of getting it to work.... Will have a chat about it with the boss lady tonight... toofarnorth Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 I'm thinking about it as well but my student status complicates matters slightly. Anyone know if I could share it with someone and they could pay to upgrade to a full ticket for that game?

Shroppie Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 If you read the terms and conditions, all season tickets are non-transferable.
kpturner Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 In theory, you cannot share a ST. I think it is against the T&Cs of the purchase. In reality, however, it seems unlikely that anyone will notice until such time as a ST carries a photo. I would imagine the practicallity of trying to share a ticket with somebody who might not live anywhere near you would prove to be a big stumbling block though. On a more interesting note, what was the reason for the divorce anyway?

Saint_Ash Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 How would you work out what games to go to? Could turn messy I reckon as you'd all want to go to the "Premium" games.
PaulSaint Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 Split equally the Gold games, Silver games, etc and you could buy some pre-paid "Royal Mail Special Delivery" envelopes to send the ST Card to the other guy?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 With the new entry card system you could just buy and pass the card to someone/anyone on days you dont go? Mate at work has a Rangers season ticket - when he cant go I take his card and go watch......easy
Dimond Geezer Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 If you read the terms and conditions, all season tickets are non-transferable. It does, but I don't think they enforce this. When my lads were away (scout camp or something) I wanted to take my nieces, I phoned the TO to see if there would be a problem as the boy's tickets have their full name on them. I was told it wasn't a problem.

Anyway, nOn transferable means I am not able to sell my ticket to someone else after 3 months, or at least that's what I am sticking to!

Wurzel Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 If you read the terms and conditions, all season tickets are non-transferable. That relates to ownership, not the person using it. Joe Bloggs can not decide he no longer wants his season ticket and transfer it to John Smith, and then when renewal comes round have John Smith renewing it.. It's a standard clause in any season issue, the clubs contract would be with Joe Bloggs so they wouldn't be able to enforce any Ts & Cs on John Smith if it wasn't them that sold it to him. Also it stops queue jumping when there's a waiting list. Nothing to stop Joe Bloggs letting John Smith use it for the odd game though - plenty of companies buy STs and let clients/employees use them. Bear in mind though the owner is responsible for whoever uses it and can have the ticket taken away for some elses bad behaviour.
Hedgehog Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 Think the only time it could cause a problem is if you try to lend a child's ticket to an adult. By the looks of it the new entry system shows if the ticket is a concession ticket, and there will still be people at the entrances on match days (to help). the saint in winchester Posted 20 June, 2012 Share Posted 20 June, 2012 An amusing and yet informative and clearly relevant discussion. Like many it seems, I also can't justify a ST as I work out of the area and struggle to make evening games. Also my son has just turned 17, has a girlie, and doesn't want to come to SMS every other Saturday when he can be out with the girlie or his mates. Some sort of communal ticket timeshare system would be good, where we can book the shared tickets in advance, although ensuring we all get an equal share. I feel there may be bigger problems than that. Bear in mind that this is a new system and likly to go awry (like the on-line ticket system) if they person entering is then asked various questions to confirm identity and he is not the holder of the ticket, it could be cancelled and no refund given to the Holder. Bucks Saint Posted 21 June, 2012 Author Share Posted 21 June, 2012 Can I try another one: does anyone know the club's attitude to renewals of season tickets by family members, where the existing holder has passed away? My sister died last September and while the season ticket was used from October onwards, renewal is now upon the family. I would hope it would not be a problem but dont want to ask the club just yet. NB the wake was held in the Matt Le Tiss suite and the club and staff were absolutely great.

I vaguely remember a story a few years ago about relatives of Man Utd season ticket holders renewing their tickets still under the name of the deceased, as there was no way of transferring the name on the ticket to somebody else. I could well be wrong, but I imagine you would be unable to officially change it, but the club would have no way of tracking whether it is your late sister who renewed the ticket & is attending games. I imagine someone on here has been in the same boat as you who could advise you better!
