Looks like they've put a giant hoolie fence or anti bomb mesh round the stadium, not sure thats an improvement tbh. Any idea what the new building is for? Doesnt look like a hotel.

Looks like a conference centre, the shape of it suggests it has been designed to maximise acoustics. Maybe for use as a concert venue etc?

Conclusions:

1. Based on the road layout, it's a revamped St Mary's not a totally new stadium

2. The new buildings would require the purchase of the Industrial Estate behind the Chapel Stand and Cemex moving out from the Riverside.

3. There is a question mark after 'Our Future...' these are just a taster, not a finished plan.

4. The quality of the drawings say to me that these have been done by a professional graphical designer. That the club has released them into the public domain indicates to me that at least investigation has been held into upgrading St Mary's (but then we know that's happened in the past anyway...)

It's a multi story car park. Apparently they're quite a good revenue generator...

Wheres Ted gone ?

He's been omitted from the mock-ups to ensure the thread stretches to at least 50 pages with people jumping to conclusions.... ;-)

It's going to be the new trophy cabinet as Cortese wants to win everything. :)

I personally would like some of it to be a museum with the history of the club.

As opposed to getting one of the development squad to have a quick go?

Joking aside is there anymore text to give this some context? Just a bit of an odd thing to put out there really.

It's the monkey-chicken petting zoo.

No, it's quite bizare, just a few pictures in the background during an interview with Rickie Lambert where he is dicussing the club's future ambition. No real further context is given.

Could be, although it appears there is a new walkway direct from the back of the Chapel stand into the new development. Maybe some kind of bar /leisure complex?

So a misleading thread title then as its not stadium expansion propsals at all. Just a few pictures with no content.

All looks very nice, although of course much more of a concept that the actual plan. I really like the idea of changing the stadium shape to give it its own identity; and if it involves something along the line of the exterior of the Allianz then great. It looks like the Kingsland will house the majority of the new increased seating, which I would estimate then allows the capacity to go up to somewhere around 40K, maybe a bit higher (judging from the pics alone the Chapel and Northam don't instantly seem to be increased in size to a hugely significant degree.

Nice to see though. I've always thought the club must have at least had some concept designs knocked up for what could possibly be achieved in the future so its good a little bit of insight into that.

I think I'll get excited when I see the Liebherr vehicles at work. So many clubs have got to this stage and not done it - even Liverpool.

There is no place for that sort of talk on here sunshine.

The new building I would have thought would be confernce facilities and match day corporate facilities as would be the bulge at the ticket office corner. The shape is a of the new builing is a current favourite with designers; by the looks of the window position the sloping front is acting as a brise soleil to control the solar gain.

The more this gets mentioned the more I genuinely believe there is a gap in the market for a monkey-chicken petting zoo. Anyone know when the new series of Dragon's Den starts? This has got legs...

Not at all, within the tone of the DVD documentary (Rickie talking about the future etc) and the showing of the pictures directly after similar pcitures for the new confirmed and under construction academy and training facilities put these across as something that is certainly at least under consideration or a 'proposal' stage.

What I feel would be 'bizare' is why they would have specifically released these images!? There was no need for it really.... unless they want to show just how serious we are being about further future development.

I wonder what the capacity is in those pics. about 40K-45K i'd imagine?

I think maximum we could expand up to was 44k. One of the stands cant be expanded, the Itchen i think. This is just from memory though of when we moved to SMS.

That's torn it....someone's dared to raise the taboo 'number of seats' question...

And so it would seem from those drawings.

About 40k imo, although Im finding it hard to 'read' those drawings - to separate exisiting from new.

44K. who ever built SMS did so with a dell sized mentality with such a lowly cap.

would be immense though

how many legs would a monkey-chicken have? and would they be our new club mascots?

We all knew there were plans to improve the stadium, this confirms it. It also confirms that were are backed with some serious $$$.

Anyone can do some pretty drawings and stick them in the public domain, tbf.

Loads of clubs have released similar artist's impressions in the past only to not follow through with any building work to that effect (or even so much as a planning application).

This particular design would, as Colin has alluded to, also require the purchase and subsequent demolition of at least three sites that adjoin St Mary's in its current guise. If, for the sake of argument, we assume the club proceeded with this, the timescale involved would surely be a minimum of 5 years, perhaps even 10, simply because of the complexity and scale.

no one ever said they werent fella.

These are just images...thoughts... at the very very earliest, this wouldn't even start on site for a couple of years. I imagine it's 5-10 years down the line to be honest =\

As much as I admire you Mr. Turkish, pioneer of the sponge hand market, and kudos on that, we are as big a club as Liverpool, remember? A woman said it on Sky Sports News.

Indeed, some people, like aintforever, seem incapable of grasping this though.

find a post where anyone said the club weren't considering it at some point in the future.

If MLG had drawn those we all know what you and your other small-minded pleb's responses would have been.

We've only EVER talked about plans and ambitions.

Would imagine it's years away, as you said, but we may see little things being added as we go along - maybe those pictures are what they want the final outcome to be after 10 or so years? They're pictures, but they've come officially out of the club and it's the first time we've seen them comment on stadium improvements, so at least it shows these are being considered.

Forgot about the industrial freehold though, and the front outside the stadium - that wouldn't be done overnight.

Good to see some were proved right about what the club would be planning.

Though they will probably want to see a couple of season's revenues first?

Probably need to get into a season-ticket-waiting-list-type-scenario before we see anything concrete?

All together now: - let's go round again, baby we'll turn back the hands of time, let's go round again, one more time.
