This is what the season tickets look like

I cannot play my DVD on my PC. When inserted, Windows Media Player fires up but then nothing happens.

Can anyone shove me in the right direction to get it to play?

You need to order the NC Season ticket DVD decoder from the club shop for only £39.99. The good news is loyalty points will go straight onto your season ticket number giving you priority for tickets for the massive carling cup 2nd round tie away to Preston in September.

Only £39.99?

Bargain. And with loyalty points for Preston away too! Compelling.

But I guess I still have to pay an admin fee ...

Windows Media Player is gash. VLC Player can decode pretty much any format of video file - best media program out there.

Didn't receive my ticket today so I guess they're going out in batches. They're certainly keen, it's a good eight and a half weeks until kick off.

Question.

Reading through the Terms and Conditions, it says that moves will only be allowed "for good reason". I'm confused as to whether this means making a permanent change to your seat half way through the season, or does it also apply to a one-off change?

I have a season ticket in a block where pretty well all seats are season tickets, so when I go to a match with a non-season-ticket holding friend (or even my wife) I can never buy a ticket near my seat. I would like to be able to move just for a single game so that I can have two seats together. I know from experience that other clubs' systems allow this - you just log on, buy one ticket and choose an option to move your own seat next to it. The system then frees up the normal seat for sale.

If other clubs can do it, I hope that we can. Anyone know the answer? If not , I'll e-mail the club.

Decades ago, when I didn't work saturdays and had no mortgage to pay or wife to pacify, I had a season ticket at the Dell. The thing I hated about it was that as Shroppie says, you tend to get lumped in with other ST holders. That means if you get stuck next to or near an utter c*nt, you were stuck with them for the entire season.

(In fact, thinking back, most of the ST holders anywhere near me tried to move.........) ;)

The one time I could afford a season ticket, I bought one. It was the 2005/06 season, so we'd just been relegated. Brilliant. We played some terrible football and 90% of the time never looked like winning. Even better. Then there was the fact I was lumped next to an absolute head case. He really was absolutely mental.

I've not had a season ticket since but I'm hoping to be able to get one this season and am faced with a dilemma. Having worked for the Beeb I've had a halfway line view for the past year and nothing beats it, but no one so much as raises their voice. So do I risk sitting next to another day release mental patient or pay more for a good view but have significantly less atmosphere? Tough one. I quite fancy the idea of sitting behind the dugout, but I'm guessing those seats will have already been snapped up.

Block 34, Kingsland North is a good compromise. Great atmosphere, good view. But full of season ticket holders, including one who is the world's biggest moaner. Quote: "Get Guly off, he's useless" I reply, "but he has scored 2 goals" "Anyone could have scored those and apart from that what has he done?" ...........

Personally I used to go with atmosphere everytime and sat in the Northam right near the back.

But in the last 2 seasons I just can't be arsed with the standing up and being packed in like sardines so I've been sitting Block 7/8/9 in the Itchen.

The atmosphere is like a library but the view of the pitch and the match is sublime.

Its a toughie. If you want lots of atmosphere, go join the Yoof in the Northam. Just be prepared for constant standing up / sitting down with the largered up leery lads and fights with our own supporters if you get it wrong by a split second. I agree that the halfway line is a great place to be if you have a serious hangover induced headache, but you need a lottery win to be there, as well as not to take any food wrappers that might rustle. So the Itchen North has some serious advantages, not least the proximity to the away fans for much merriment, but you will be at a handy 90 degree angle to them so can firmly concentrate on looking at the pitch and not at them if we are getting spanked.

Would you like a broader brush?

I e-mailed the club.

I am a renewing season ticket holder (despite living 200 miles from St Mary's) and I would be grateful if you could clarify something for me.

Occasionally I bring a friend who is not a season ticket holder with me to home games, obviously buying an additional ticket for them. A regular problem last season was that I could never get the additional seat anywhere bear my seat, presumably because there are so many season ticket holders sitting around me. On two occasions I actually had to buy two tickets together and not use my season ticket.

With the excellent new card system, I am hoping that for individual games there will be an on-line system that allows me, when I want an extra ticket, to find two seats together, buy one and move myself for that game only, freeing up my normal seat for sale. This is certainly possible at other clubs, for example Reading, where I occasionally go to games and my friend, who has a Reading season ticket, is easily able to move to sit next to me. I sincerely hope that Saints are maximising the new technology in this way. Will this be the case?

Their reply:

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately we will no longer be offering a seat move facility for any match tickets.

Regards

That seems ridiculous. In effect it means I can never go with any of my friends who are season ticket holders. It means I will probably go to less games.

It is tedious. It means I have to buy two tickets together, then sell one of them but tell the buyer to sit in my season ticket seat. If other clubs can cope with this, why can't we?

I am tempted to take this up with someone more senior at the club, but not sure who, or how to get an e-mail address.

Christ

Moaning again

Don't buy a ST then.

Hardly moaning. Just disappointed that there are better sytems available than the one Saints are implementing. It won't stop me going to games and I'll still jump through hoops to get seats together if I want them.

And I buy a season ticket to support the club and give me access to away tickets.

I assume then you are getting a ST on your own with this????

Then you must have been prepared for this news a it is certainly not a given.

Why can't you go with a mate sit separately (like you are prepared to anyway) and then meet up again after.

It only an hour and a half

Agreed if I'm going with a mate, it doesn't matter that much, but when Mrs S makes an occasional appearance, for some reason she would quite like us to have seats together.

Didnt you advise someone to move to block 34? If so there are 8 more spaces now as we have all moved to save money so you should have a bit more choice.

Bought my two this morning. £1350 plus £3.00 because I paid by card instead of cash. Are they crazy? Don't they know how much cash costs to process?

If it makes any of you feel any better, my brother-in-law's company has just renewed their four corporate package seats (not a box) at White Hart Lane for a total price of £19,000 for one season. Ouch.
