Saint in Paradise Posted 13 November, 2008 Author Posted 13 November, 2008 In Google Earth go to Taupo, New Zealand. Look for the junction of "Lake Terrace" and "Ruaphu Street" and you will see that DC 3 in the town.

Master Bates Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 See, now that wasn't so difficult was it
St Landrew Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 When was it put there Seatbelt..? I've visited Taupo a few times, and I don't remember it. I do remember buying a book by NZ bush-whacker, author & legend, Barry Crump, called Hang On A Minute Mate, while I was there. I also bought a sports top. Just checked the book case, Barry's still there, but my sports top wore out a few years ago. I also discovered, in a Taupo restaurant, that Thai Green Chicken Curry was heavenly, as it was the best one I'd ever tasted. But no DC3.

Saint in Paradise Posted 13 November, 2008 Author Posted 13 November, 2008 See, now that wasn't so difficult was it Yes it was, well for me anyway I tried not to make it too large and so its not a very good image now:( The actual aircraft has been there for a few years now but not sure exactly how many
Master Bates Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 Yes it was, well for me anyway I tried not to make it too large and so its not a very good image now:( Yeah it is, I clicked it and it grew, I saw it too it's big enough to spot.

Master Bates Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 Hey, why's that plane parked outside that building?
St Landrew Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 What the **** happened there, that the link from yesterday! I noticed that. I was just about to post a withering, sarcastic put down of your effort, Pancake, and post the correct Google Map, when I screwed it up too. So I gave up..!
Saint in Paradise Posted 13 November, 2008 Author Posted 13 November, 2008 Hey, why's that plane parked outside that building? This DC 3 used to fly within NZ a few years ago but is now part of a Macdonalds fast food place.
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 This DC 3 used to fly within NZ a few years ago but is now part of a Macdonalds fast food place. Do kids get to fly it? Is it like a modern take on the ball pit?
Master Bates Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 This DC 3 used to fly within NZ a few years ago but is now part of a Macdonalds fast food place. Is this how it got there:
Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 I maybe wrong, but I think (unless it skidded a hell of a long way) Fort Lauderdale is a hell of a long way from Taupo, New Zealand!

Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 Above is just an example. As sorry, I thought you asked if it was how it got there. I would imagine it was purchased and transported there, but again, I could be wrong.
Junction 9 Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 I have also been to Taupo and not seen this.
Al de Man Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 I went to another plane converted as a cafe in NZ. No idea where it was though as it was back in 1997. I might go and dig out the photos and work out where it was.

Arizona Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 Was it one that Arizona was driving? Take a f*cking long time to get to New Zealand in that old crate.
Al de Man Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 This is in a small village called Mangaweka which is on the main Road south of Taihape. Yeah, that's the one. We went out of season but they were kind enough to open it up and let us have a look around. The Cadbury's factory didn't though.
TopGun Posted 13 November, 2008 Posted 13 November, 2008 Take a f*cking long time to get to New Zealand in that old crate. Slow but steady, none of this fancy over rated modern technology!
