spyinthesky Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 David James received an honour in the Civil List, following in the footsteps of that giant of footballing talent with a Pompey connection, Alan Knight Surely MLT for his one club loyalty, fantastic footballing ability, services to broadcasting and local charity work should be rewarded. He is also genuinely a nice guy. Perhaps that goes against him. Mick Channon is another worthy of recognition in view of his dual success on the football field and horse racing as well as his efforts in controlling his tourettes!!
VectisSaint Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 Mick Channon is more likely to be honoured when he retires from racing or perhaps after he hopefully wins a British Classic.
Ohio Saint Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 Mick Channon is more likely to be honoured when he retires from racing or perhaps after he hopefully wins a British Classic. He can still run pretty fast then?
VectisSaint Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 He can still run pretty fast then? No, think he would struggle to run at all these days, but his horses can and do so frequently unless I bet on them.
stug76 Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 Betting scandal, extramarital affair Matt Le Tissier over looked for honors again?
Alain Perrin Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 MLT's loyalty is overstated. Convenience rather than loyalty IMHO
Leicestersaint Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 MLT's loyalty is overstated. Convenience rather than loyalty IMHO Bonkers!
david in sweden Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 The queen loves mr channon. fact yes, but only because he bought her stables .......
thegaffer Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 Ah you've read Micks autobiography as well. Makes great reading.yes, but only because he bought her stables .......
Amesbury Saint Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 Nominate him then! Exactly - quite a straightforward process. Just needs a bit of effort by a small group of people.
Guest flickjax Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 MLT's loyalty is overstated. Convenience rather than loyalty IMHO Rubbish!
obelisk Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 Perhaps he isn't interested in. There are some people that can't be bothered with the gong business. You're just not allowed to know who they are.
rooney Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 David James played many times for England but Matt hardly at all. Furthermore, David James set up his charity foundation in Africa some years ago and puts a great deal of effort into this charity. I think that is why he had the award.
VectisSaint Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 Ah you've read Micks autobiography as well. Makes great reading. Crappy weather, just spent an hour watching some great video clips: http://www.mickchannon.tv/page/extras/football Nostalgia, it ain't what it used to be. Brian O'Neil, style icon.
