Martin Lipton, Daily Mail Chief Football Reporter:

"Twitter and other social media full of rumours of Harry Redknapp's departure from Tottenham. My understanding is that it is not the case. But clear there are issues between Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy, who blames the manager for club not finishing third in PL last season and is in no mood to offer a new contract even though only 12 months to run on current deal. Uneasy truce at the moment but clear that this is on a knife-edge at the moment. Levy not a man to budge, as a rule."

I imagine Levy's nose has been put seriously out of joint by Redknapp whoring himself out for the England job for months, and at the same time f*cking up his side's title ambitions (shortly followed by their Champions League ambitions). And he'll also know that the longer this saga goes on, the more Redknapp will stop his car, wind down his window and give his media chums yet another quote for the headlines. 'Arry of course will want the cash from his final year, so I doubt he'll just walk away; but a financial settlement for him to go is in no way out of the question.

No, I don't think he'll be taking Adkins place anytime soon.

But I would be disappointed if the rumours are true. I can't imagine he'd go to any other Premier League team now if he left by choice (he's a bit old, and would not get a bigger job than Spurs. He'd probably turn to punditry :scared:).

I think his reception at SMS was one of things I was looking forward to most next season... Didn't he admit the Arsenal fans upset him after a north London derby once?

Posted

I heard he was off to one of those high paying, little known about (in this country) leagues to earn a fortune, live in peace and bliss, and have the English media begging for his return when Fergie retires next summer.

I hope he stays because i'm so looking forward to st marys rocking to the tune of "who the **** is harry redknapp" as the 3rd goal goes in.

I suspect that his chairman wasn't overly impressed that HR was more than happy to jump ship and take the England job, which he obviously thought was his. As for the earlier supposition that he was going to take over from Ferguson, I really can't see that happening. My money is on Moyes.

Press bloke on Talksport at 7am this morning.

Said Redknapp misjudged the England situation and ****ed Levy off by even going so far as to approach people about working with him during the Euro's, he was that sure of getting the job.Said that he has changed his agent and the new one is more combative. Also said that the interview he gave to Sky Sports last week, in which he claims the uncertainty is affecting the players (funny how he claimed it didn't affect them during the England talk), was the final straw for Levy and he'll be gone. Said Levy wants a DOF and a young Manager.

Levy supported HR during his court case. he also knows that there is a chance of more surfacing in the future. HR on Sky and the BBC talking about his contract will annoy Levy as he knows he is trying to drum up pressure from the fans.

If he leaves Spurs, you can bet he once again comes away semlling of Rosie - er sorry fraudian slip - Roses in the media... what he has on them I dont know, but would not be surprized if he ended up back at Wham....

Posted

He wanted the Monaco job.

too late though..

Wanted to be re united with his doggy ..47 and his other bank accounts...;)

Should do the decent thing and spend his 50 mil. fortune and pay off all Pompey HMRC debt....:)

Mind you that would still leave another 50 odd outstanding..:uhoh: Sorry I digressed onto the Pompey fred..:D

looking at the bbc article he is basically saying about him being in his last year of his contract the players wont play as well as if he had a nice bumper 3 year deal. WTF. Seems to me he is telling Spurs to pay him nice or feck him off...I'll go for the latter.

Posted

I never really get it when they say players won't play as well because they are not sure of he will be there manager in 12 months.??

Surely, in football, can you ever guarantee that?

Posted

Can he and Peter Storie return to Portsmouth and really destroy them this time? Maybe a third administration and 0.5p in the pound CVA leading to their complete liquidation (preferably accompanied by a big *pop* sound or the sound of the last bit of water gurgling away down a drain)?

Posted
He'll be gone within a week, with either Moyes or Martinez coming in I reckon.

Moyes, has to be. It was just a shame for Liverpool that the one man who would have been perfect for them was plying his trade across Stanley park.

Must be many a spurs fans with fingers crossed hoping that the curse of team's harry's left does not call at their door.

Davis Moyes is favourite to replace Harry Redknapp at Spurs if Redknapp has left #Ssn

Pretty sure she means David Moyes but as a Saints fan I'll let her off!!

I hate that man

everything is all about him...he clearly lost interest in Spurs when he thought England would come calling...hence the results for tottenham from feb onwards..

exactly like at saints when we went down...he just didn't fancy it so just went through the motions

the press will be all over Daniel Levy like a rash now...slating him here and there

if arry is the new brian clough (the way the media made him out to be) then surely, a club like spurs should be doing everything possible to tie him down

Totally agree, tied down somewhere near the Thames Barrier about 3 feet below the high water mark would do.

Spurs fans phoning in talksport slating arry.

Reading out his crime sheet as such

A few months ago he said that the players don't care who is manager, they come in, train and take their money.

Now, the players won't play as well as they won't know if he will be manager next season

Also, fans making points that arry cannot spot a player, he buys 30+ year olds who anyone can spot

Tried to get rid of bale, did not even put Sandro in the initial champions leave squad.

Fans now talking about the utter rubbish and constant contradictions he comes out with.

It's taken them long enough, we saw through him within months.

Twitchy punditry coming up on Sky Sports next season then. Time to cancel those subscriptions.

Oh god

Hot bored of him on telly the other night. Must have said 2 or 3 times that he would have picked Rio.

Can't argue with any of that really, other than the fact that very few managers 'spot' players these days. It's all done via scouting teams - Spurs have one of the best scouts going in Ian Broomfield, and he pretty much decides who they bring in. Sandro was solely down to him, Redknapp even admitted it at the time.

Here's something for you to laugh at - when that idiot Frenchman Damien Comolli took over as 'Director of Football' at Spurs with Ramos as manager, he sacked Graham Carr from his position as scout. The same Graham Carr who has just signed an eight year deal at Newcastle, having signed them players like Cisse, Tiote and Cabaye.
