The9 Posted 10 June, 2012 Share Posted 10 June, 2012 "His characteristics are what we have been looking for. "He has demonstrated a superb attitude and when we have met him it has only confirmed what our research has told us. He has a hungry and enthusiastic attitude with a desire to work hard". They are Adkins' comments about Rodriguez, but also a clear message about the kind of players we will sign, and the kind we won't. It should be cut and pasted at the top of the HCDAJFU thread and flashed up on the screen at 30 second intervals until the people who don't get it, get it. If someone could pass it on to the lazy national media too, it will save endless links with the likes of Yakubu and er, Michael Owen...
S-Clarke Posted 10 June, 2012 Share Posted 10 June, 2012 The infamous 'no c-unts' rule. One day I hope to see it instigated at international level. They'd have to change it to 6 aside or something then.

Glasgow_Saint Posted 11 June, 2012 Share Posted 11 June, 2012 why is Yakubu considered "no-go" he's a good guy no?
The9 Posted 11 June, 2012 Author Share Posted 11 June, 2012 why is Yakubu considered "no-go" he's a good guy no? I'd be picking the phrase "desire to work hard". There's also an implication from our recruitment under Adkins so far that age could be a factor, although it's not explicitly stated it kind of goes along with the enthusiasm and hunger (there are exceptions) - I think Hooiveld (at 29) might be the oldest player he's signed on a permanent deal. It strikes me as a sort of psychological profiling or identikit for potential recruits

CB Saint Posted 12 June, 2012 Share Posted 12 June, 2012 The infamous 'no c-unts' rule. One day I hope to see it instigated at international level. Well they didn't pick Joey Barton, so perhaps they have made a start - apparently on ability alone he would walk in.

david in sweden Posted 12 June, 2012 Share Posted 12 June, 2012 It strikes me as a sort of psychological profiling or identikit for potential recruits yes it does - doesn't it?, but if we can find 25 every season who fit the profile we may end up with a half decent side.. The9 Posted 12 June, 2012 Author Share Posted 12 June, 2012 It strikes me as a sort of psychological profiling or identikit for potential recruits Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a none-too-subtle message to fans, agents and the media - which of course they will completely ignore. Seems to fit Cortese's general model of being prepared to pay a bit more to get exactly what he wants.
