Glasgow_Saint Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 Delldays discusses the merits of signing Rob Green with TSW http://www.grapheine.com/bombaytv/movie-en-620f0a890439cd3e5747c295c68dcc32.html
buctootim Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 Clearly untrue also. He was brilliant for fulham No he wasnt. He had a goal ratio of 1 goal every 4.5 games - pretty **** poor for a main striker.
Cabrone Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 He's definitely better than KD and would have liked him here but £50k p.w is complete madness so it's time to look further. QPR need their heads looking at, they are going to bankrupt themselves if they carry on like this. Football has to get back into the real world.
The Kraken Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 He's not. He really is, by almost every comparison.
Victor Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 Whatever you are on, isn't working. Oh my God, how much simpler do I have to make my point before you are able to comprehend it? One last try: fact = fact 99% fact = not a fact 100% fact = abuse of the English language
Greedyfly Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 He really is, by almost every comparison. Ok but he's not a big enough improvement over KD to fork out extra cash on. He won't gain us anymore points. He was woeful last season and is only in Poland/Ukraine by default. Really don't understand the love in for Green on here.

He was woeful last season and is only in Poland/Ukraine by default. Really don't understand the love in for Green on here. He's available on a free transfer, so we wouldn't have to fork out for him. Wages are the only question mark; but any experienced keeper at PL level is going to demand high wages, so I'm not sure how much of a factor that can be.
swannymere Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 I don't think we're in a position to offer anybody £50k a week, with all the new FFP rules coming in we need to be cautious with the wage structure.
Turkish Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 I don't think we're in a position to offer anybody £50k a week, with all the new FFP rules coming in we need to be cautious with the wage structure. Wont they also apply to QPR then who it seems are able to do this?
The Kraken Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 Wont they also apply to QPR then who it seems are able to do this? It seems our Champions League expectations could be in jeopardy if QPR can outbid us, and £50K per week is out of reach for us.
Gingeletiss Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 You're 100% right. If he was only 99% right, would he be wrong?
skintsaint Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 Meanwhile WH sign Jussi. Used to think he was quality but seemed to really lose it the last 18 months or so. was he injured or pushed out by Bogdan?
The Kraken Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 If he was only 99% right, would he be wrong? 100% correct.
Turkish Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 It seems our Champions League expectations could be in jeopardy if QPR can outbid us, and £50K per week is out of reach for us. tsk, youre stuck in an Askham mindset. We all know players will join us because of Corteses vision and money wont come into it.
Crazy Diamond Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 tsk, youre stuck in an Askham mindset. We all know players will join us because of Corteses vision and money wont come into it. Let's not forget the outstanding training facilities, which are getting better as we speak. Players always mention it when they sign - they must be willing to accept less money for the vision and facilities.
skintsaint Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 so QPR paying him 2.5m a year wages....but getting him on a free. I bet if they sell him in a year they'll get their dosh back.
MOSaint Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 I'd rather we try getting Fraser Forster, good at Celtic on loan, only 24, wants to play PL football and Newcastle want to sell. Wouldn't cost much fee wise or wages wise either.
the saint in winchester Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 We need to sign a keeper URGENTLY. Jussi is off the market going to Wham, Green apparently going to QPR .... just pick one and make him sign. I'm getting anxious.
Crazy Diamond Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 Whatever happened to that Dutch keeper we were linked with?

Saint Garrett Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 I'm sure we have our goalkeeper targets and I'd be very surprised if Green was our first choice. He's hugely overated and there are plenty of other options out there for 50k/week!!
buctootim Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 so QPR paying him 2.5m a year wages....but getting him on a free. I bet if they sell him in a year they'll get their dosh back. Then how come no other clubs have come in for him? Nobody else wants to pay Green £50,000pw now so QPR will have no chance of shifting him in a years time and earning a fee.

buctootim Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 how do you know..? Because he's going to QPR. No-one chooses them if they have offers for the same money elsewhere.
saintchris23 Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 I'd rather we try getting Fraser Forster, good at Celtic on loan, only 24, wants to play PL football and Newcastle want to sell. Wouldn't cost much fee wise or wages wise either. Absolutely agree with this option. Needless to say he was great for me on Football Manager..........(Which seems the only way people rate players on here!)
Thedelldays Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 Because he's going to QPR. No-one chooses them if they have offers for the same money elsewhere. How do you know. Maybe he does not want to leave London?
Hopkins Posted 13 June, 2012 Posted 13 June, 2012 I'd rather we try getting Fraser Forster, good at Celtic on loan, only 24, wants to play PL football and Newcastle want to sell. Wouldn't cost much fee wise or wages wise either. He's not particularly great and his agent has already said he's off to Celtic.
SaintRichmond Posted 14 June, 2012 Posted 14 June, 2012 I'd rather we try getting Fraser Forster, good at Celtic on loan, only 24, wants to play PL football and Newcastle want to sell. Wouldn't cost much fee wise or wages wise either. Who was he playing for in Div 1 not long ago ??

Saint J 77 Posted 14 June, 2012 Posted 14 June, 2012 How is Green being better than Davis or vice versa anything other than an opinion? They're very similar IMO, which means little sense in investing heavily in Green for potentially minor improvement. 2 of the best Championship keepers, one already here, liked by fans and used to our setup. I'm sure we'll sign 1 or 2 keepers but can't see it being someone like that. Meanwhile WH sign Jussi. Used to think he was quality but seemed to really lose it the last 18 months or so. Pretty much spot on. Apart from Green being a minor improvement
david in sweden Posted 16 June, 2012 Posted 16 June, 2012 We need to sign a keeper URGENTLY. Jussi is off the market going to Wham, Green apparently going to QPR .... just pick one and make him sign. I'm getting anxious. why anxious? ..when's our first League fixture ?
Flyer Posted 17 June, 2012 Posted 17 June, 2012 Because he's going to QPR. No-one chooses them if they have offers for the same money elsewhere. WHU offered the same money and he still chose QPR according to their chairman.
david in sweden Posted 17 June, 2012 Posted 17 June, 2012 WHU offered the same money and he still chose QPR according to their chairman. IMHO I don't think it matters much. I've pencilled in both Wham and QPR for a quick return to Npc after next season. Green has to choose his club and make the best of it.
Torres Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 Green has officially signed a 2 year deal at QPR. He's a big improvement on Kenny, at least
Glasgow_Saint Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 Green has officially signed a 2 year deal at QPR. Told you this http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?38391-Saints-ready-to-sign-Robert-Green&p=1384107#post1384107
DJ_TOAST Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 great so now what the fck are we going to do looks like old tommy might earn his wages afterall
rshephard3 Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 We'll sign Butland now won't we. Wait until the Euro's are over, lets face it, that'll probably be Sunday night. He's clearly not being bothered with such things whilst in the England squad.
swannymere Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 Either the Mirror or the Mail are reporting that Norwich are in for Butland and that we've had an improved offer turned down, one of them has also stated we're in for the Celtic keeper that was at Newcastle. Do you think they copy everything from various forums?
rshephard3 Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 Either the Mirror or the Mail are reporting that Norwich are in for Butland and that we've had an improved offer turned down, one of them has also stated we're in for the Celtic keeper that was at Newcastle. Do you think they copy everything from various forums? You've got to wonder if they do. In the age of instantaneous 24/7 news including social media, journalists have a hell of a job on to grab a story noone has previously tweeted/posted/facebooked about already meaning they are often rehashing old news.
david in sweden Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 so QPR paying him 2.5m a year wages....but getting him on a free. I bet if they sell him in a year they'll get their dosh back. Maybe so , but if he's that good...why would they want to sell him after a year?
Pat from Poole Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 I think we should make a move for Gilkes from Blackpool. A really good keeper who wouldn't command massive wages.
Crazy Diamond Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 great so now what the fck are we going to do looks like old tommy might earn his wages afterall Please, this isn't George Burley going ahead without enough defenders and about a million midfielders.
david in sweden Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 well that's one less player to have to speculate on .....time to close this thread Mods ????
Alright Dave Posted 21 June, 2012 Posted 21 June, 2012 Another report we are about to steal Fraser Forster from under the noses of Celtic! http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/...radar.17938561
