ThreeSixty Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Think you lot are reading far too much into the "prize"
CB Fry Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Something about swipe cards, or Saints branded credit card (don't we have one? - we used to). Or the launch of an exciting new official saints top trumps game. Or even a new picture of a digger outside something that looks like it might be staplewood. Highly unlikely to be anything remotely interesting, although it will probably make MLG spill his love milk over three sets of undergarments by lunchtime.
Saint J 77 Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 I predict Sibley is public enemy #1 on here and ***ter tomorrow! lol, I predict you are correct
itchen_dan Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Possible? @Fourth_Official: Southampton are closing in on signing Chelsea's Kevin de Bruyne on a season long loan #Saintsfc #CFC
Matthew Le God Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Highly unlikely to be anything remotely interesting, although it will probably make MLG spill his love milk over three sets of undergarments by lunchtime. Wish I hadn't been drinking milk as I read that. I'm more worried about my bedtime cookies than three sets of undergarments!
latter day saint Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Wish I hadn't been drinking milk as I read that. did some of it dribble out of your mouth & down your chin ?
St Marco Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Maybe something to do with someone new writing a column in the programmes? Either that or we signed Pompey as the half time entertainment?
sfc1971 Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 It`s nothing exiting just a new website with all the new advertising that comes with the Premier Lge.
S-Clarke Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 It`s nothing exiting just a new website with all the new advertising that comes with the Premier Lge. I had heard that a new website was planned for this close-season, we've kind of already seen what it will look like - take a look at the tickets homepage, eventually the whole site will follow this design. That's the plan I've been told anyway.
The9 Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Hang on, couldn't it be some gash "Saints will be featured in a new trading card/sticker set" kind of thing? There's a lot of miscellaneous Prem detritus to wade through I'd forgotten about.
Saint J 77 Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Lambert voted player most likely to succeed in the premier league? If this is his news then it truly is no news at all! http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/9749936.Premier_bosses_vote_Lambert_a_top_threat/

doddisalegend Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Saints have re-thought their season ticket prices and have decided to charge the same as Colchester instead....I live in hope
trousers Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 @officialsaints: #SaintsFC announce pre-season friendlies against @AFCAjax, @Udinese_1896, @OfficialWolves and @bcfctweets. More at http://t.co/uOy2bQWx.
trousers Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 @officialsaints: #SaintsFC will also play two matches in France as part of a week-long training camp in Évian-les-Bains. Details at http://t.co/uOy2bQWx.
Matthew Le God Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Lot of home friendlies. If not very cheap attendances will be awful. Especially the game against Wolves at home, when sandwiched between more attractive fixtures like Udinese and Ajax.
Mattio Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Well that was boring... I assume all the home games are to test the new system and train people in a crowd situation, meaning chaos is more than 10,000 turn up!
Nexstar Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Surprised the Wolves game is at home, normally play lesser opposition away.
martel Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Given the pattern of previous enticements of this kind' date=' prepare to be underwhelmed...[/quote'] Agreed, it could be that "Sky Sports News" now shows Saints in the premiership.
Sour Mash Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 That'll have about 500 people attending. Two big team home games seems a lot, but with the mini-tournament as well? Not the usual set of fixtures is it, seems like overkill. Away to Ajax would have been more fun, or a tournament away somewhere. I'll go to 1 or 2 of these home friendlies if they're a tenner or less, but fear it might be rip off prices. Definitely feels like a bit of a change from the normal pre-season approach, lots of tough, high-profile games, lots of matches at home, no easy games for the first team at any of the usual local places Don’t know how popular the Udinese game will be 12pm kick off, middle of school holidays, will have to make some of these fairly cheap. Also, would we have had to pay Arsenal/Rangers/Ajax/Udinese to come and play at ours? Part of Cortese’s plan of seeing us in the European footballing elite?
fish fingers Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 I think having Ajax and Udinese at home will mean a low crowd for the Bear Cup. Wolves might as well be behind closed doors.
The9 Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Well that was boring... I assume all the home games are to test the new system and train people in a crowd situation, meaning chaos is more than 10,000 turn up! Relatively speaking I think it was a vaguely interesting update - better than the usual "x thinks Saints will x" news, or an upgrade to SaintsPlayer or something. When you consider that there won't be any STs used at the preseason games and that everyone will be buying a ticket, you can see that it'll make a decent dummy run for the match by match system, probably similar numbers of tickets sold for the Ajax game as for the first Prem match when you take STs out of the equation. I had heard that the club were keeping a steward per turnstile for the time being to help resolve ticket problems and to initially check the ST light system (I'd heard it was a type of red/amber/green system with a separate colour for concessions), so they're not making ANY savings with this new entry system at the moment.
The9 Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 I think having Ajax and Udinese at home will mean a low crowd for the Bear Cup. Wolves might as well be behind closed doors. Judging by the ridiculously early timing in preseason, I think this year's Liebherr Cup is designed to showcase Saints with the Olympic Torch and new kit(s). It's going to be so uncompetitive at that stage, a full month before the season starts. Last year's West Brom (reserves) friendly was pretty decent nevertheless - the Wolves one will feed the Jarvis/Henderson/etc rumours nicely.
southamptonbairn Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Could any of these pre season games be linked to some sort of sweetener on a transfer deal? Adomah, Jarvis, Lodiero and AN other

Saint_clark Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 It'll be embarrassing seeing the attendance for the Wolves game. They should make that one under a fiver to get in, tenner for Udinese and Ajax and then £15 for the tournament.
Dr Who? Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Agreed, it could be that "Sky Sports News" now shows Saints in the premiership. Have been under the Premier league heading for a couple of weeks now, when they run through what is happening at the bottom of the screen.

Charlie Wayman Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 @officialsaints: #SaintsFC will also play two matches in France as part of a week-long training camp in Évian-les-Bains. Details at http://t.co/uOy2bQWx. Completely underwhelming. Having just paid for my now exorbitantly expensive season ticket, that's it for me, no more dosh to spend on SFC. If the bean counters were pinning their faith on mugging us loyal fans even more, sorry old beans we don't get caught with trousers down more than once!

You never make any sense with your ramblings.
Matthew Le God Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 (edited) Completely underwhelming. Games against... Arsenal - 3rd in England 2011/12 Rangers - 2nd in Scotland 2011/12 (admittedly 2nd in Scotland isn't much of an achievement, but they are still a big club) Udinese - 3rd in Italy 2011/12 Evian - 9th in France in 2011/12 Ajax - 1st in Holland 2011/12 + Wolves and Bristol City ...you describe as "completely underwhelming". What were you expecting/hoping for? In terms of a pre-season I think that is the best we've had in years. Lots of home games against high profile clubs and a training camp/two games in a very attractive, relatively close region of Europe. Edited 8 June, 2012 by Matthew Le God
Littlelat17 Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Another reason alot of home games for preseason is the further testing of Hawk Eye at St Marys in game situations
dune Posted 8 June, 2012 Posted 8 June, 2012 Well that was boring. This sums it up perfectly. I'll give them a miss.
