S-Clarke Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Great move for the lad, hopefully he gets regular games for them. Never put a foot wrong for us and never worried me when he was named in the team, great story from where he's come from. Good luck to him.
This Charming Man Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 He got better and better with every game that he played for us last season. Hopefully will get a starting place there and keep on improving.
CWD Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 That leaves us with only 3 centre backs including Seaborne. I can only assume we have another player lined up. Good luck Aaron, hope you come back and establish yourself in the PL next season
Lighthouse Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Good move for Aaron. Can't imagine Seaborne sticking around for this season either as I'd have said Martin was the better player.
S-Clarke Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 This is a sweetener for the Clyne deal. FACT. Don't think we'd have to sweeten anyone up, other than him, as he's a free agent now I believe.
ThreeSixty Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Good move. Always thought he's done well when played, hope he continues to improve.
Elias Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Sounds like a very good move. Palace are a good footballing side who have brought through a lot of good young players in recent years.
Jez Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 ahh no, its gonna be like the summer of 2008/2009/2010 where Alpine can moan about our lack of centre back signings all over again!! Must be two centre back signings to come though in all seriousness.
SuperSAINT Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Great move for him. Made some big strides since his move. Will be good to see how he gets on.
Crazy Diamond Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 ahh no, its gonna be like the summer of 2008/2009/2010 where Alpine can moan about our lack of centre back signings all over again!! Must be two centre back signings to come though in all seriousness. Yep. My thoughts exactly. Hopefully something soon.
david in sweden Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 This is a sweetener for the Clyne deal. FACT. I can agree with that Turkish, but it also means that we'll be signing TWO CB's instead of one.
Matthew Le God Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 This is a sweetener for the Clyne deal. FACT. Don't think we'd have to sweeten anyone up, other than him, as he's a free agent now I believe. If Saints were to get Clyne, they'd have to pay compensation to Palace or it would goto a tribunal. So loaning Aaron Martin to Palace could be as Turkish says be a "sweetener".
Crazy Diamond Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 This is a sweetener for the Clyne deal. FACT. I can agree with that Turkish, but it also means that we'll be signing TWO CB's instead of one. The same Nathaniel Clyne who is DEFINITELY moving to Manchester United, according some of those who know everything about football ever on this forum?
opthomps Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 we seem to be bleeding players, unless the youf is stepping up. hope we dont get rushed into having to buy toss players come august.
Saint Charlie Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Exactly what Martin needs, a full season of games. Good player, with potential to be very good.
S-Clarke Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 we seem to be bleeding players, unless the youf is stepping up. hope we dont get rushed into having to buy toss players come august. The club know what they're doing, don't worry.
Crazy Diamond Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 we seem to be bleeding players, unless the youf is stepping up. hope we dont get rushed into having to buy toss players come august. A slight exaggeration, we've let go a few that were out of contract and not even regulars, plus let a youngster go out on loan.
Saint Mikey Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 A slight exaggeration, we've let go a few that were out of contract and not even regulars, plus let a youngster go out on loan. I disagree. Lambert joins Norwich, and now this? We're in trouble.
Crazy Diamond Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 I disagree. Lambert joins Norwich, and now this? We're in trouble. Can't believe I forgot about that one.
Dig Dig Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 we seem to be bleeding players, unless the youf is stepping up. hope we dont get rushed into having to buy toss players come august. The club are not stupid. There is no danger to us in loaning out a young CB who needs games in early June. I'm sure we have deals lined up for most positions.
Legod Third Coming Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 ahh no, its gonna be like the summer of 2008/2009/2010 where Alpine can moan about our lack of centre back signings all over again!! Must be two centre back signings to come though in all seriousness. I'm not sure about 9 and 10. But in 08 he was right on the money! Still I suppose even a broken clock is right twice a day...
Saint_Ash Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Who is Sci-Doggs Saints source? Maybe he can tell us a sfew things... http://www.cpfc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=233417

Saint J 77 Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 A good move for him and the club. Hopefully he will come back a better player and challenge for a first team start.
Mattio Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Hope he comes back at the end of it, lot of potential IMO, looked class at Coventry in the cup
SuperSAINT Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 The man himself talks about the move... http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2804794,00.html?
skintsaint Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Good luck to him. Think with good first team experience and coaching, along with bulking up a bit he can play top flight football comfortably. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
david in sweden Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 perfect timing. His 20 odd prev-appearances (included a couple of goals) were spread out over two seasons. He undoubtedly has talent, but it would have been unwise to have thrown him in at the deep end and maybe ruined his career. A season at Palace,(not a bad side either) will give him much needed games and stengthen his claim to a first team place with Saints the year after.

Joneth Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Good move for him, if he gets regular games he will be a very useful prem standard centre back in 2-3 years time. Personally, I really rate him and it wouldn't surprise me if he made the England team one day.
saint.tom.clancy Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Good move for him. Hopefully comes back with a full season under his belt and does a job for us.
Jez Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Who is Sci-Doggs Saints source? Maybe he can tell us a sfew things... http://www.cpfc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=233417 "No just woke to a random text from a Saint's friend informing me of this. His dad works with their board so he considers himself to be in the know". So was arranged two weeks ago (as dated 25/05) and the wheels were in motion for Aaron back then. The ITK's are much better on Palace's site. I miss ours and the lies they used to peddle
West End Saint Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 I think this is a very good move the lad has the potential to be a great centre backs & needs games we must have some experience at centre back for the prem I dont think Fonte is going to be prem standard so I can see us getting at least 2 cntre backs in & off loading Seaborne
rooney Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Continually improved since he came to us especially last saeson scoring 2 goals. This will do him a power of good and ready to come back to us the following season.
david in sweden Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 I think this is a very good move the lad has the potential to be a great centre backs & needs games we must have some experience at centre back for the prem I dont think Fonte is going to be prem standard so .......I can see us getting at least 2 centre backs in & off loading Seaborne me too.
Colbury Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 I really rate Martin. Good move for club and player...
Dalek2003 Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Shipping players out, deals falling through...I reckon we are trying to do things on the cheap ! It's all going to end in tears unless we act decisively in the transfer market !!!!
S-Clarke Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Shipping players out, deals falling through...I reckon we are trying to do things on the cheap ! It's all going to end in tears unless we act decisively in the transfer market !!!! Your act wasn't funny to start with, it's now just plain annoying.
bpsaint Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vta40cnLbxs&feature=relmfu more detailed interview Cheers for posting that. Mr Allen was my PE teacher at Bitterne Park, top bloke, sounds like he helped push Aaron on to where he is now.
scotty Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Shipping players out, deals falling through...I reckon we are trying to do things on the cheap ! It's all going to end in tears unless we act decisively in the transfer market !!!! Whats your prediction for our finishing position in the prem this season, Dalek?
Lighthouse Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Whats your prediction for our finishing position in the prem this season, Dalek? Don't get him started. Dalek's brand of 'humour' is about as original and funny as Rudi Skacel jokes.
derry Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Martin was excellent defensively but was lacking in passing and constructive play. Joining a passing side like Palace will do him the world of good if he plays regularly.
70's Mike Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 good news all round good for him good for us because we must belooking to sign a central defender good news to show how far we have come, us loaning to Championship Clubs rather than borrowing from them
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 we seem to be bleeding players, unless the youf is stepping up. hope we dont get rushed into having to buy toss players come august. Oh FFS, its the beginning of June.......
toofarnorth Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 ahh no, its gonna be like the summer of 2008/2009/2010 where Alpine can moan about our lack of centre back signings all over again!! Must be two centre back signings to come though in all seriousness. Agree. Two new centre backs is now definitely required. To me this kind of signals a bit of intent. Loan out the youngsters to continue to develop and bring in either better youngsters or just better players.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Whats your prediction for our finishing position in the prem this season, Dalek?17th !!! That'll do me
Saint J 77 Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 I really rate Martin. Good move for club and player... I do too. I think a year at of first team football at Palace will do him wonders and hopefully when he returns he will come back with a serious challenge for a first team place.
VectisSaint Posted 7 June, 2012 Posted 7 June, 2012 Seems a bit odd to me. This must mean we have 2 new CBs lined up, so unless one or both are loans with experience this would put Aaron No 5 in the pecking order when he comes back next season. Love to klnow how this fits with the idea of getting the youngsters in the first team. Disappointed really, it seemed quite clear to me that he would be close to being ready for the first team, or at least as first choice backup.
