Danbert Posted 6 June, 2012 Share Posted 6 June, 2012 What's that all about? Their Chief Executive says that... "by securing this investment we can safeguard the immediate and long-term future of this club." (more at the link) What the f u c k is that supposed to mean? bridge too far Posted 6 June, 2012 Share Posted 6 June, 2012 The BBC webpage has more info: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18324804 I think it's because they think the colour and the dragon will appeal to football fans in the far East and so develop the club's image and, as a consequence, it's finances. How is changing the colour of their shirts going to make a sod of difference to the long-term future of the club? Sounds like from the BBC link above that it was a condition of the Malaysians investing? The changes are part of a "major and significant" investment pledge from Cardiff's Malaysian owners. Also, possibly interestingly, there was a study done with kickboxing where they showed the same fight to some judges but in half the cases transposed the red and blue colours of their protective clothing. In both cases they tended to score the person in 'red' higher. So there may also be a bit of a competitive advantage playing in red.
Danbert Posted 6 June, 2012 Author Share Posted 6 June, 2012 How weird is that though? Making that sort of investment conditional on the colors of the players' shirts.
