itchen_dan Posted 6 June, 2012 Share Posted 6 June, 2012 After the initial statement and news a month or so ago about the club changing from Blue to Red to please the Malaysian owners, nearly all Cardiff fans went against the idea and kicked up big time! The board said that: However..... today, they've released a statement saying that they are now going ahead with plans to rebrand the club from Blue to Red! This has begun with a new club crest! and a new Red home kit and blue away kit! How gutted and ****ed off would you be if Saints rebranded from Red to Blue?! Have a bit of sympathy for the Cardiff fans. Some Cardiff Fans' Views: Dudley1927: I will never step foot inside Cardiff City Stadium while the club plays at home in red. Gutted and betrayed. Liars. http://t.co/x0lowB86 mirkobolesan: Well there we go then, Cardiff City become a franchise, change to red for next season. The @football_league stand by and let it happen. AngelGriffiths9: So.. Cardiff City..the bluebirds will now play in ****ing red. #joke
Hatch Posted 6 June, 2012 Share Posted 6 June, 2012 This will not end well.
krissyboy31 Posted 6 June, 2012 Share Posted 6 June, 2012 Just seen this on SSN. Unbelievable really!! I don't think fans give a damn what their away colours are (even if we do go through the "must be yellow" debate every season) but home colours are the identity of the club. saint si Posted 6 June, 2012 Share Posted 6 June, 2012 They're obviously trying to become "FC Wales" - further evidenced by the prominence of the dragon on the new crest. Badly misjudged I think...
S-Clarke Posted 6 June, 2012 Share Posted 6 June, 2012 More wacky owners in English football, who clearly don't have a clue. What makes this worse is that they already came out and said it wouldn't happen, so to swing that around and actually do it is like lying to the fans. They're probably hated now. Barry the Badger Posted 6 June, 2012 Share Posted 6 June, 2012 Looking on the Cardiff forums, the sad thing is that the vast majority seem to accept it.
Colinjb Posted 6 June, 2012 Share Posted 6 June, 2012 A predictable u-turn. It's not quite a McDons moment but very troubling. The City of Cardiff does keep it's football club but it's own ambition has resulted in it losing a key part of it's soul. The only way their fans can save face is by opposing it. If Nicola Cortese suddenly decided that it would be in our best interests to switch to Blue shirts/white shorts/red socks there would be outcry, and rightly so. TopGun Posted 6 June, 2012 Share Posted 6 June, 2012 Why use a player with a very visible tattoo to promote a new kit anyway, let alone a colour change?
Dr Who? Posted 8 June, 2012 Share Posted 8 June, 2012 At least they did not change it to a white kit!! Bad move imo.
Winnersaint Posted 14 June, 2012 Share Posted 14 June, 2012 Mate and colleague of mine CCFC STH trying to get a refund. Only platitudes from their ticket office and even from their Chief Exec in personal e-mails I have seen. they really don't get it.
Winnersaint Posted 14 June, 2012 Share Posted 14 June, 2012 Wonder if this would have happened if Jacks hadn't been promoted and stayed in Premier League or if Cardiff had been promoted?
skintsaint Posted 14 June, 2012 Share Posted 14 June, 2012 Didn't Cardiff originally play in Red anyway many moons ago?...Or did I dream I read that somewhere.
Neil Posted 14 June, 2012 Share Posted 14 June, 2012 Didn't Cardiff originally play in Red anyway many moons ago?...Or did I dream I read that somewhere. Don't think so, I think they've been blue for about 100 years, and were "chocolate and amber" before that. A few questions over the amount of "investment", and how much of the loans would be converted to equity... http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footballnation/football-news/2012/06/14/tan-91466-31185062/ Stadium to increase to 35k, although no timescale, can ony imagine that will be if/when they get to Prem, but Malaysians may bail out before that ever happens.
