If true, welcome back. It will be a good signing on a free, probably one of the best free signings available at the moment for a newly promoted team looking for a bit of quality and Prem-experience.

Linked by The Sun, that has to reduce the, likelihood of him joining..

They have probably got the idea reading this forum about the released Newcastle players thread.

My HCDAJFU scale certainly had a penalty for it...

Actually, I wldnt say no to Skacel returning. Even if he only seems to play well for Hearts.

Guthrie would be a great free signing. Especially if Hammond is leaving (I guess he will be, but no source for this)

A couple of bad knee injuries kept him out a while at the start of this season.

Also it wouldn't be too easy to get in the team ahead of Tiote either.

His great grand-daddy, Woody, does a cracking rendition of OWTS.

And his great grand-daddy's guitar kills fascists too.

Re Guthrie younger, I'd be absolutely delighted if the same player that we had on loan all those years ago joined us. Don't know what his time on Prem wages might have done to his ego though.

proper scouse pikeys

You could'nt make this up could you ?

Staff at Allerton Castle, an estate near Harrogate, Yorks, described the chaos as 'more Big Fat Gypsy Wedding than our usual clientele,' and said those attending had 'behaved like peasants with money.'

Police were called twice on the morning of June 2nd as violence erupted during the disco at the nuptials of player Guthrie, 25, and his Liverpudlian girlfriend Rebecca Middleman, mother of their three year old daughter Sienna.

It was reported that bride, Rebecca, 23, was punched in the face during the melee and had to go to hospital for checks the following morning

"To say they behaved like peasants with money is an understatement," the sources said. "They were obnoxious and disgusting. One could say it would be expected of a rough pub on a council estate, but then that's probably unfair to council estates. It was more Big Fat Gypsy Wedding than our usual clientele."

Remember Sybil Fawlty complaining to Basil over in advertisment he had placed in the paper saying "No riff-raff".

The story has more holes in it than turkish's socks. For example if the fight broke out at 3am, why was there still lobster around to be thrown? Wedding 'breakfasts' are usually pretty early on in the day, if they started fighting then and were still going at 3am, maybe he is the type of player we are after.

I heard its been denied by the parties involved, so probably a massive over exaggeration of what actually happened, like one person threw a claw at a mate for a laugh.

We need a new CM to challenge Cork and Morgan but I'm fairly glad it wasn't Guthrie. Better out there, although on a free he's a good signing for Reading. Pogrebniak likewise, both on frees though, worth noting.

We can do better than him, he wouldn't have really been an upgrade to anyone we already have. And it looks to me that we're quite clearly only going for better than what we have.

"apparantly" ...Guthrie stated that his decision to join Reading was " a no-brainer " .

How (I wonder), did he decide to sign for them then ?

Unlimited lobster at half time.

Third thought. Oh Well.....
