ART Posted 3 June, 2012 Share Posted 3 June, 2012 Anyone else sick of Gary Barlow popping up on every other program, newsreel etc..? I found him bad enough last winter on the XFactor, then came Comedy Relief. Just when I'd had enough he's back with a vengeance. No sooner does the Jubilee finish and he'll be back for another season of XFactor. Hope he'll not be featured throughout the Euros or Olympics. Talk about overexposure. latter day saint Posted 3 June, 2012 Share Posted 3 June, 2012 if only the blokes with spears who ambushed him when he was in the canoe on the Solomon Islands were serious. alas, no where's a starving cannibal when you need one !
trousers Posted 3 June, 2012 Share Posted 3 June, 2012 Being British, I think we should knock all our stars off their perch as soon as they get a whiff of success. Who do they think they are being successful? How bloody un-British can they be FFS?

Who do they think they are being successful? How bloody un-British can they be FFS? GB is NOT a star , he was a member of a manufactured boy band, once. Now he does appearances on ****e tv progs...hardly a superstar, ffs! Get those guys with the spears back pls. In the same why , why do we treat Cheryl Cole as some mega superstar. Her only talent is she's sung a few pop songs, but hardly world famous for that.

Spudders Posted 4 June, 2012 Share Posted 4 June, 2012 I'm fortunate enough to have a tv equipped with a function that allows me to change channels in these kind of situations. I don't have any problems with Gary Barlow, but it is useful when loose woman comes on, or anything with Kerry Katona.

I'm not exactly Barlow/Take That's biggest fan but I don't really see where you're coming from. How would you define an international music superstar? The Beatles only "sung a few songs" too. I'd have thought that's a fundamental requirement to being a global musuc superstar. Gary Barlow is the lead singer, and chief song-writer, for one of the most successful bands of all time in terms of the number of records sold, and has spent a bloody long time in the charts with various songs in a musical career, that so far has spanned over 3 decades. Surely all bands are "manufactured" in some form. Barlow was chosen to be in it because he was talented. As for appearing on "****e" TV programmes, I think he was on X-Factor and this Jubilee thing. I haven't seen him on much else, but those two things, whether you like it or not, are hugely popular programmes worldwide. As for Cheryl Cole, yeah I suppose I agree with you. I think she's got where she is on looks. Fair play to her though, I say. If you've got it, use it. But if you don't like either of them, just turn the channel over when it's on. It's the Union flag FFS. Dune, this is a new fact for me which I learnt from this very forum only last week. Being the holder of a RYA Helmsman licence it is a fact that I enjoy sharing. I educated the gk's of this yesterday as we walked through town, they think that I know everything about everything now, seriously. Re Gary Barlow, I don't begrudge him the attention and adulation, the bloke wrote at least a million love songs in his time. That's impressive for one so young in my book. ART Posted 4 June, 2012 Author Share Posted 4 June, 2012 http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/gary-barlow-trapped-in-queens-arse-2012053129189 A great reflection of where he is in my eyes Johnnyboy. He's a brilliant musician, singer-songwriter and that is where he shines. What gets me is when he opens his mouth to relate how brilliant he and his opinions are and some are taking his word for real.

Fair play to him for helping to organise what looks like such a successful event. Don't see anything wrong with giving credit where it is due. As for his other appearances, perhaps Spudgun can tell us where you can get one of these new-fangled tvs with such futuristic features?
