Saint in Paradise Posted 3 June, 2012 Share Posted 3 June, 2012 I know I am a tad forgetful at times but this beggars belief to me, how about you? A US mother has been charged with child abuse after she allegedly drove with her baby on the roof of her car. The one-month-old boy was found in a car seat on the ground near an intersection in Phoenix, Arizona, early on Saturday. The mother Catalina Clouser, 19, has also been charged with driving under the influence after admitting she had been smoking cannabis. Officer James Holmes said Clouser and her boyfriend had been at a nearby park on Friday evening. "The suspect's boyfriend and the suspect, along with her baby, left the park to purchase beer at around 11pm," he said. "The boyfriend was stopped by Phoenix officers and arrested for aggravated DUI after he was suspected of, and processed for being impaired while driving with the baby in the vehicle." A police report said Clouser drove to a friend's house, smoked more cannabis and then drove home after forgetting her son was on the roof of the car. She only realised what had happened when she got home. http://news.msn.co.nz/worldnews/8477683/mum-charged-with-leaving-baby-on-roof-of-car

I suspect they relate to drink and drugs in all fairness. However, I'm slightly confused as to how they've managed to charge the man with being impaired while driving with the baby in the vehicle, and also the woman has been charged with driving under the influence after admitting she had been smoking cannabis. How can they both have been driving the car??

SNSUN Posted 3 June, 2012 Share Posted 3 June, 2012 My mum once lost my sister in Slough in the mid-80's when she was about 3. They had a trolley full of shopping and left me (aged 5 and as good as gold) to look after it in the car park while my mum and dad freaked out and began running around Slough. I don't know how long they'd gone for but it seemed like hours to me. They found her, an honest shopper had discovered her wandering around on her own and had held on to her while they listened to music from a band that was playing in the shopping centre. Nowadays my mum is borderline senile, but back then it was just a momentary lapse in concentration. Had it been this day and age, I doubt my parents, or indeed my sister, would have been so lucky. Spudders Posted 4 June, 2012 Share Posted 4 June, 2012 . Had it been this day and age, I doubt my parents, or indeed my sister, would have been so lucky. indeed, had it been this day & age the honest shoppers have all turn into peadophilles, your mum & dad would have been distracted by sciectologists & gone off & joined their cult, whilst your chances of being left in a car park without being bundled into a white transit van & taken to do manual labour for a group of travellers would be pretty slim! hamster Posted 4 June, 2012 Share Posted 4 June, 2012 Mum once left my big brother in his pushchair outside the corner shop. Realised only after putting the shopping away and pouring herself a cup of tea. Pretty sure mum never dabbled in drugs so maybe an early onset dementia sign? Saint_clark Posted 4 June, 2012 Share Posted 4 June, 2012 I know someone who recently left her mobile on the top of the car after popping into the shop, it fell off and smashed when she drove off and she's had the p*ss taken out of her for being such a dopey tit since. Putting your baby down on top of the car to put the shopping in the boot and forgetting to put him/her into the actual car though, is absolutely mental. My parents left me in a bookshop for three hours in Bournemouth, it was a family day out. They thought I was with my grandparents, who thought I was with my aunt and cousin, who thought I was with my parents, etc etc... They finally all twigged I was missing and frantically backtracked until they found me sitting on a bookshop counter surrounded by sales staff. They had been repeatedly asking me where I lived, and were utterly confused when I kept telling them "165 Bournemouth Road". Well, I didnt realise chandlers ford was anywhere different did I, and all I was interested in was did they have any more Greyfriars books, I was happy as a pig in shlt. Dimond Geezer Posted 4 June, 2012 Share Posted 4 June, 2012 My MIL left my 2week old BIL in the pram outside a shop (this was 1966 when you left prams outside shops), she walked home & suddenly realised she'd forgotten something, but couldn't think what it was, then the penny dropped & she ran back for him, still there, still asleep. scotty Posted 4 June, 2012 Share Posted 4 June, 2012 Good story scotty. Who ended up taking the blame? No blame apportioned hamster, nobody injured and a happy child. Plus I got my pick of the Frank Richard books in the shop. Result!!
pedg Posted 11 June, 2012 Share Posted 11 June, 2012 Hopefully people who leaves their children behind somewhere are not going to have positions of responsibility... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18391663 David Cameron and his wife, Samantha, left their eight-year-old daughter, Nancy, in a pub after having Sunday lunch, Downing Street has confirmed. Oh well!
