London to Brighton cycle ride

Dr Who?

Recommended Posts

Without wishing to sound obtuse, is this thread anything whatsoever to do with Saints? It just seems like Dr Who's cycling training schedule.

You're right Turkish, there's no sarcasm, petty in-fighting and general obnoxiousness on this thread, how can it be Saints related? One/Two Saints fans are doing a charity cycle ride, that's Saints related isn't it?

In other news, got my first puncture today ( :( ) was about 2 miles from home so managed to push the bike home with not much trouble, tried repairing the inner tube but couldn't manage to do it so replaced it with my spare and it seems ok now...getting the wheel on/off was a nightmare as it was the back with the rear derailleur/chain etc. all getting in the way.

Managed to do everything ok though, and re-attach the gears as they were meant to be re-attached so it's all good :)

Doing another 25-28 mile ride on Sunday around Andover which I'm looking forward to, hoping a result against Wigan on Saturday will spur me on for the ride!

/\ just because he's a Saints fan doesn't make it Saints related. How many Miles were cycled tonight and in how long has f*ck all to do with SFC. If someone started a thread on here saying 'how many wa*ks do you have a day?' would it belong on the main Mong board because it's Saints fans wan*ing?

Hey all, I did say a while back that I would be happy for this thread to be moved, but I am very grateful that the mods have left it on the main board. Turkish is right, not sure how it has lasted, but I think the mods have found it in their heart to leave it on this occasion.

I think it is because I am doing something good for charity, but I would not mind if it was moved. I do not think there would be much point now. I am also trying to get other Saints fans together for a cycle.

Today I did a 22 mile cycle. Was really good and feel we are pretty much ready. I have now lost 2.5 stone and want to lose another half a stone and would have met 2 of my 3 my goals. The last one will be the £500, we now stand at £382.

Thanks again everyone for your support, and the advice has been brilliant. My bike is in for a service this weekend and some slick tyres. A break from cycling this weekend, full on football, as I take my 4 year old daughter to her first game.

I will be wearing my against shirt on the day of the cycle, and would like to get a group of Saints fans together to cycle to and back from a game!

Its nothing personal Dr Who and i respect what you are doing. It's very strange when the mods are locking threads and deleting posts left right and centre, many of which are Saints related and related to players, even if they do go off topic at times. Yet this one has remained on the main board despite it not having anything to do with Saints at all apart from a Saints fan is doing the race. It seems the thread has turned into a log of your training. As interesting as that might be it's got bugger all to do with Saints.

Just noticed your riding an MTB, what tyres are you using? If your just riding on roads at the moment get a set of road slicks, you won't believe the difference.

Been out with my slicks this evening and added over 2mph to my average speed on the same route! Brilliant, and less effort. This is some of the best advice I have had.

Shameful, maybe, by bumping this up for no reason, on the main Saints board, but it is just over 2 weeks now.

Those of you who said you are going to sponsor us, then please please please do.

Thanks again to everyone who has given advice and donated.

I will look to do more in the future for charity, but I promise I will not ask on here again.

Good luck. take care. Had bad collision with stationary car yesterday. Fractured shoulder, bit of a bummer. I hope you enjoy it.

Jesus Winner, how did that happen? Breaks? (no pun intended). This is what I worry about the most, coming off the bike!

Hope you are back on your bike soon!

Thanks for the good wishes. Dropped car off for service at local Ford dealership on Friday. Cycled home the longer way round to get miles in. Was only about 200m from home (small estate - lots of cars) was going on outside of cars but got blinded by low sun and clipped a Volvo . Outside of left leg caught rear light cluster - dumped on ground shoulder first with Rooneyesque rip in thigh. Cue visit to Royal Berks A&E stitches in leg injury and a shoulder that looks like I've daubed myself with woad. Pretty immobile at the moment. Felt very Bradley Wiggins (2011 tdf) sat on the road waiting for the ambulance. Evidently my mum did same racing in the early 1950s.

Was nice gentle, well short cycle today.

This week is 10 miles Monday, 5 Tuesday, 10 Wednesday, 5 Thursday. Rest Friday and Saturday!

Tell you what, I have NEVER raised money for charity in my life, and have enjoyed every minute. Will do a local one next for my local wildlife park, and will include sponsored car wash, non school uniform day and a quiz, as well as the main event the bike ride. This will be Easter weekend. you will be pleased to know I will not be asking on here!!!

Here is today's. Good job it is short as the light was fading.

Over 700 miles of training miles since June 2012, and 3 stone lighter, and the fittest I have been for about 15 years. My wife who had SPD, and gave birth in January has lost of 4 stone. Today me and Mrs Dr.Who completed the London to Brighton bike ride, and it was a fantastic experience.

I want to thank you all of you who sponsored us, you have kept us going through the very wet training in the early days.

I made it up the Beacon, but the wife could not due to pain in the hips and knees. Apart from that we cycled together all the way, and went over the finish line together.

Again, thanks all, it has been brilliant to get all the support of fellow Saints, as well as a big thank you to the MODS, who left this thread open on the main board, even though it is not Saints related.

I will let this main board get back to defensive issues.

Superb effort by you both:toppa:. Please pass on my congratulations to Mrs Who, 4 stone lighter and young baby! I did a charity walk (10k) last year and it was my grandson, who walked with me, that got me around the last 3k. It was a wonderful feeling at the end and I'm sure you must be feeling a great sense of achievement.
