Should we bring back memberships?

Alas, the time has come again. I know last time we were in the membership we had 30k+ memberships. Surely a good money making scheme by the club and to distingush between those who go to 10 games and those who go to 1 or 2. Your thoughts?

and it's a massive YES from me! (maybe the wrong show though!)

Why do memberships distinguish between those going to 10 games and those going to 1? Surely the database does that.

I always found it to be a complete waste of money myself (saying that was only 10 quid so I didn't much care). Got absolutely no value from it whatsoever.

I wish we did because it would be easier to get a ticket for the 9/10 games you can make, but instead i am paying 600 for a ST, and SFC know that so that why they wont do it, aldo surely 20 pound membership is great profit for the club, a membership card cost what 50p to make.

Why?

Someone of you lot make me laugh.

All a membership is is a plastic card. Nothing more.

All your purchasing history is recorded on the database anyway so why do you want to pay 20 quid for what you already have?

Laughter is a healthy human emotion so you should be thankful for people that make you laugh. FFS

The reason people want memberships is very simple really.

The last couple of season's tickets have been sold for the big games to anyone on the data base and an extra one for S/T holders. Therefore someone who had been just once in the past 10 years, had the same chance of getting a ticket as someone who goes to 10 games a season. Some people dont think that's fair (including myself). Previously, tickets went on sale to members first, and although not ideal, was certainly fairer than data base sales. If we do the same next season, it could mean someone who hasn't seen 1 game since relegation, getting a Man Utd ticket before someone who watched 25 League 1 games. There can not be anyone who thinks that's fair, surely?

As pointed out earlier in the thread, all sales are recorded on the data base, so I cant see why it's beyond the wit and wisdom of the TO to sell tickets based on this (ie, people who have attened 6 games or more in the prvious 12 months can apply a week before people who haven't).

The obvious flaw in any membership is that anyone can join, pay £20 and just go to watch Man Utd or Chelsea. My solution to that would be to charge £85 for membership, but knock off £10 for the first 8 games you attend and charge £5 admin fee.

There are a lot of loyal supporters who attend a lot of games, but not enough to make a S/T viable. Falling into that categary myself it does annoy me that I am part of the data base scramble for tickets. Although I am thinking of getting a S/T this season and trying to pass it on to mates, when I cant make it.

Maybe you need membership to be something that is automatically earned by buying a ticket? That would be a perfect description of the "ticket tax" - membership fee. Then you have certain levels of membership: if you go to 20 games a season (home and away) that would be one band. Ten games the next band. Lowest band would be for those who bought tickets but not a great number in any given season. That way you would push people who rarely go further towards the back of the queue. If you wanted big game tickets you'd need to buy a season ticket or to go to at least 10 games a season.

Get over it. If you wanted a ticket for games the last couple of seasons you could have got one quite easily. We've rarely sold out and in the games we have the tickets have been on sale for ages.

Fair is someone paying money for a ticket. People banging on about how many games they've been too and expecting special treatment is boring. If you want a ticket for a game you could quite easily have got one and will be able to quite easily get one in the future, especially after the initial excitement of the first couple of home games blow over and we get stuffed by a couple of big teams.
