More than harsh. Gazza needs confidence to play well, and throwing him in and then fans booing and mocking him only makes him lose confidence. Maybe he does need to go out on loan. If RK is going to put KD on the bench, he may as well, if we can get in another no3 keeper.

 

I get that he is low on confidence but he's just not good enough. Koeman et all obvs agree as even Davis is on the bench ahead of him. I'm all for getting him out on loan though to see what he can do but ask yourself this. Which championship club would be willing to take on statistically the worst ever premier league goalkeeper?

Dunno, but who WAS Derby's keeper in 2008?

 

Gazzanigga is still improving, whether he'll get to the level we want of him, who knows, but a few loan spells will do him good and there's obviously a view that he could get good enough and that he's worth the investment of his wages in the meantime.

 

He's a better keeper than even the end of last season already just from being around another experienced keeper in Stekelenburg (one mistake in his entire spell after Saturday's fumble - which he still got to before anyone else). No reason to think he's low on confidence, he's played plenty of games since his last Prem one.
