No it didn't it looked like the clever idea of buying the leagues top scorer didn't look risky at all.

 

 

I seem to recall quite a number of correspondents querying why we paid out £1 million for an L1 player who (they wrote) ..." wouldn't be good enough to play in the Championship."

Personally I knew little about RL at that time, aside from his goalscoring record and the size of his waistline.
