Interesting, one of the guys tipped Rodriguez to make an impact at a higher in the near future also:

"Rodriguez has all the attributes to be a successful striker in the Premier League: height, pace, and finishing ability. He is still only 22 and scored 21 goals this season. It would have been more had he not picked up a groin injury. No wonder he was voted into the team of the season, despite his side finishing in 13th spot."

makes it obvious why we seem to want to sign him at all costs

Would be nice to have at least one player in the team with a bit of pace.

De Ridder, and Guly are quite fast; beyond that it's hard to argue with you. :? We are an incredibly slooooooooooow team though some of our youngsters if they make the grade are supposed to be lightning quick.

So we were the biggest over achievers according to Gus, but couldn't bring himself to mention Adkins in despatches.

I thought Poyet's comments were fairly reasonable, for a chimp-headed c()ck.

On the whole they were. I don't if it was how I was reading it though but it still felt there was some bitterness there. Saying we over achieved and not mentioning Adkins for one of the best managers. Of course he truely might not believe Adkins deserved a mention there but deep down I think he didn't want to mention him in that breath because of last seasons history, that Gus created himself between them.

Also after reading that article, I'm really glad we got promotion this season as next year there are going to be alot of teams with a good chance of going up. I suppose its the same every year though, as it was this year. They say the big spenders are gone and it will be closer, but have they forgotten Leicester? I'm sure they plan to spend big again.

He probably didn't want to risk the Brighton Angry Mob banging on his door, so he decided against naming Oor Nige personally.

I think people forget what an amazing achievement it was last season. Ipswich, Leicester, Derby, WHU, Leeds and Boro were all teams people picked before us to go up. Add to that Forest, Hull, Reading and Cardiff and you realise how well we did!

True, and of course next to crystal palace we are their main rivals now ;) In the eyes of their fans, if not ours!

We didn't over achieve. We exceeded most people's expectations.

Nicely put.

Adkins got a sentence in that article, hasn't won manager of the month once since he's been at the club (despite putting together some great runs and gaining successive promotions) and has also been overlooked for manager of the season as well. What the f*ck does the guy have to do to get a bit of credit from the media!? :scared:

I'd have Nige over McDermott any day of the week, much more tactical knowledge and adventurous style of play. McDermott organises well though and seems like a decent bloke, will be interesting to see how both get on next year!

He won manager of the month for March or April during the 2010/11 League 1 promotion season, but that's it.

Think the article overrall is very impartial and well written, even Poyet's comments (which I expected to be Bulls**t) weren't actually that bad.

The only thing I object to is the 'most impressive managers' section as I truly believe that Nigel and McDermott were far and away the best managers this season, keeping a newly promoted club in the top 2 all season and not getting ANY recognition from the League or journalists, ridiculous.

Quite happy with the way it's going really, low-key suits us. If we manage to keep sneaking under the radar and surprising people we won't go far wrong. History will be kinder to Nige.

This. Too much light on Nigel Adkins and he'll be managing Liverpool after they sack Rodgers in September.

same here.

Also really happy that all the championship promotion talk has been about Reading and West Ham. Most people seem to have forgotten about us and therefore expectations from most people will be for us to go straight back down.

There is massive pressure on WHU from fans and press and now that Reading have a rich sugar-daddy I'm sure they will be expected to buy themselves to safety.

I'm not expecting us to over achieve this season, but I'm half expecting us to really surprise a lot of people

Ok article, you'd be hard pushed to argue we over achieved this season but please... Managers of the year and they chose Hughton over Adkins? A Birmingham side that spluttered, faltered and failed all season?

Can't quite see the logic in that...
