Micky Posted 29 May, 2012 Share Posted 29 May, 2012 (edited) Obviously nothing has yet been proven, but the crime in itself is horrific, irrespective of who is actually guilty. http://news.sky.com/home/uk-news/article/16237465 We live in a sick, sick society sometimes, and it is the innocents who suffer. RIP kids. To those responsible - I hope you rot in hell. Edited 29 May, 2012 by Micky
Viking Warrior Posted 29 May, 2012 Share Posted 29 May, 2012 Ah Yes that wonderful celebrity Mick Philpott he of Jeremy Kyle fame etc I was just reading someposts about him and his misses and how terrible sad for them a few days after the fire. If it was them then they need to rot in hell but if it is not then the police will come in for a lot of criticism if they are found innocent. Still no smoke without fire as the saying goes RIP peace the wee children that perrished in that awful fire
keithd Posted 29 May, 2012 Share Posted 29 May, 2012 Of course innocent until proven as has been said, but WTF goes through somebodies mind to do that? "I know, I'm going to set fire to this house in the hope I kill some children/my children...?" I hope the guilty can be brought to justice swiftly and make some attempt to explain why... littleoldladysaint Posted 29 May, 2012 Share Posted 29 May, 2012 I doubt very much that they intended to kill their children (assuming that they actually did start the fire). I think it more likely that they wanted to make the house uninhabitable so that the council were obliged to rehouse them, probably in a bigger house. They've apparently been arrested on suspicion of murder. That implies a deliberate act, intending to kill. (Though I suppose they might arrest for murder but eventually charge for manslaughter)
buctootim Posted 29 May, 2012 Share Posted 29 May, 2012 Funny how when the facts change your perception changes. I watched that press conference with the parents and though I thought they were a bit odd, I never suspected them. If you watch the same footage now you can see the crying is dry eyed; the father talks too much about what he did to save them and how upset he is - and not enough about how wonderful his kids were. bridge too far Posted 29 May, 2012 Share Posted 29 May, 2012 In the interests of balance, it's worth pointing out that the police themselves have said that too much shouldn't be read into these arrests and that the police also reminded us all that, previously, two other people had been arrested but released without charge. In no way am I defending this couple if it is proved to be that they started the fire. However I'm not prepared to convict them until and unless they are tried. Nobody is trying to convict them, I would hope, against all hope, that for the sake of those poor children, that their parents are found to be innocent. Perhaps this line of enquiry is 'police routine' in such instances in order to eliminate those closest to the victims before spreading their net wider - I don't really know, I am simply summising. Weren't the McCanns arrested in a similar way for Maddie?
Viking Warrior Posted 29 May, 2012 Share Posted 29 May, 2012 Its interesting the the police have said they have arrested the parents. They could easily have questioned them at any other time or under oath. maybe the police use that terminology re arresting somebondy when they havent got a clue who actual did it. Helps to show they are being proactive in the case Up here the police always put things on the orcadian website asking for witrnesses etc to various types of crime translated in the community means the polis havent got a clue who was responsible. Hatch Posted 29 May, 2012 Share Posted 29 May, 2012 I said the day it happened, i bet it was the father in some twisted attempt to get rehoused. He probably doesn't possess the intelligence to feel emotions so I suspect he is more upset about the house than the kids.

Saintandy666 Posted 29 May, 2012 Share Posted 29 May, 2012 I think we should wait for this to conclude before trying to point things out in retrospective or clambering to say you always knew it was them. Remember the landlord in the Joanna Yeates case? It's much better not to speculate when you aren't in possession of the full facts or evidence. Viking Warrior Posted 30 May, 2012 Share Posted 30 May, 2012 They may be innocent. but who can forget Karen Mathews (who now wants to go on the jeremy kyle show and take the lie detector test . And the other arseoles who plead for someone to come forward and then it turns out to be the pearent or someone close to the family who were responsible. Look at ian huntly soaking up the media attention. That gu needs to be executed
Micky Posted 30 May, 2012 Author Share Posted 30 May, 2012 Notwithstanding a fair trial, these were my worst fears for those poor children: http://news.sky.com/home/uk-news/article/16238669 Defies belief really.
Saintandy666 Posted 30 May, 2012 Share Posted 30 May, 2012 Interesting they keep stressing how this isn't the end. Perhaps there is a bigger web at work here. They must think someone else is involved.
dune Posted 30 May, 2012 Share Posted 30 May, 2012 I heard somewhere that they had been trying to get a bigger council house. I reckon that's the motive.

trousers Posted 30 May, 2012 Share Posted 30 May, 2012 I must admit that I'm one of the cynics who watches some of these press conferences and says, in true Victor Meldrew fashion, "there's your primary suspects right there". Yes, I know I'm morally wrong to convict people before they've been made a suspect, let alone before they've had chance of a fair trial, but it's telling how often one's cynical hunches turn out to be correct... Viking Warrior Posted 30 May, 2012 Share Posted 30 May, 2012 Let's see what the courts make of their trial . They are total scum if they are proven guilty . Trouble is these scum make us even more cynical when press conferences are given seeking public sympathy

Now they are murdering total scum who keep having kids to get more benefits and now have lost those same kids in an attempt to get even more benefits, forget all that blah blah blah blah innocent to proven guilty ******. Viking Warrior Posted 31 May, 2012 Share Posted 31 May, 2012 I'm with you hatch about them being scum and guilty but we have some liberal types on here who would be annoyed if I didn't say innocent until proven guilty .philpott and co are parasites
MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 31 May, 2012 Share Posted 31 May, 2012 I know this will sound naive and I am happy to sound it because I'd rather be in such a state, but do people genuinely have kids just to get more benefits? Seemingly so, but totally saddening.

Seemingly so, but totally saddening. Yes, there are families like that in every city. A girl I used to go to School quite openly had the attitude of: "When I leave School I just need to get pregnant and get a house from the social." Strangely enough she saw no point in actually working for a living, and no, this wasn't in Coventry, I spent my School years in Winchester. Viking Warrior Posted 31 May, 2012 Share Posted 31 May, 2012 Yes it's any easy way to sponge of the state . Where do you think the got the scripts for shameless and Jeremy Kyle would not have the script without these parasites . There were two Orkney folk . Well they were English living up here . Well known family who have caused havoc across the isles . So mini it's not unusual
