We will be 'linked' by the tabloids, along with Reading and West Ham, with every ageing journeyman, every player from the championship who wants a move, and every relegated player - as these are the three types of players newly promoted clubs are apparently suitable to sign. In the same way every European superstar they've ever heard of will be 'tracked by' United, City, and Chelsea, and every European superstar they've never heard of will be 'on the radar of' Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool.

I will bet my left knacker we don't sign Yakubu.

I'm not sure about this. We need a few "been there, done it" players. He's cheap and a decent player. Stranger things have happened.

I kind of agree I think we need a couple (not loads) of PL experinced players...is Yakuba that player I'm not sure. 1 milion seems a bargain compared to 6.5 for a champ striker who didn't outscore either Rickie or Billy last season though.

Not for me. Sends all the wrong signals. I'm sure Adkins is laughing his head off at the Daily Mail.

As do most people; except the people who believe what they print, such as the seriously disturbed and Stanley/Dune.

I mentioned him in January and got shot down, I don't want us to sign him but he'd be a decent one to bring off the bench, I mean look at RL, he wasn't exactly young when we signed him

He was 27, which is the upper limit for any player we're likely to buy, by my reckoning. The only exception to that since Adkins took over has been Hooiveld, still only 28 when we signed him - and he was about 3rd choice centre back and the only option left at that point of the season.

It would take an absolute superstar to change up our recruitment policy, and even that would be a gamble. Signing hungry young players who don't get pensioned off isn't much of a gamble in comparison.
