Im considering giving this a go when I get back off holiday. Looks like it'll be a good complement to my Krav Maga and seems a lot more interestjng than pounding the tread mill or pumping iron alone. Anyone got any experience of this? I seem to remember someone on here saying they do it. Tips, reviews, thoughts would be helpful please.

What sort of stuff do they do Jamie? Seems like a lot of circuit training and so on. All body weight stuff.

depends on the club you go to and what they are in to

I went to one down here and most of the class were current or ex forces anyway. As you can imagine, the south west is full of forces/ex forces.

so it was pretty standard sort of circuit.

however, in southampton it may have a different flavour if you get me.

don't forget, the BMF is the "badge" it carries and will no doubt have an ex forces instructor...but would it be that much different to other similar clubs..?

god knows

The circuit I did when I went was OK..but it had to cater for the girls in our group. you SHOULD be able to sign up to a certain level..beginner, intermediate etc...but again, depends of the flavour of that group etc

Obviously, I don't pay to do stuff like that. I am currently getting back into shape and attend circuit training at work 3 times a week and they are harder than the BMF sessions...for sure.

I started again last monday after realising I was getting unfit and it hurt lol

edit. just had a look on their site and southampton has a Royal Marine taking the class...so it has the potential to be the best you can get.

Those fellas are simply the best...regardless of what anyone in the army say

I am a member of the classes in Coventry, really enjoy it.

They split the classes into three 'standards' differentiated by bib colour. Beginners in Blue, Intermediates in Red and Hardcore b*stards in Green.

I usually sit firmly in the red group but have tried the green sessions as an 'upper red' (they do mix things up from time to time to try and push people on....)

It's all very good stuff, a great mixture of cardio and strength building drills. I would recommend it to anyone.

How often a week do you go Colin?

I got to a stage of going 3 times a week after Christmas but now I go twice a week alongside my training for the Great South Run.

For membership you can pay for a once a week or 'unlimited' package.
