Get behind the Hump.

Don't understand the point of a competition that isn't a competition, the whole thing is utterly pointless and a total waste of money.

agree...look at this.

[h=3]ig Four/Big Five[/h]Since 2000, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Spain have automatically qualified for the Eurovision final, regardless of their positions on the scoreboard in previous contests.[35] They earned this special status by being the four biggest financial contributors to the EBU (without which the production of the Eurovision Song Contest would not be possible).

We are the Millwall of Eurovision................... No one likes us but we don't care!!

Although we can't pull up the drawbridge and give the Archers 2 fingers to the lot of them................ Is does smart a little that our licence money goes towards propping up this eastern bloc love in!

Hump's song was not too bad v recent entries, just a shame we got the number 1 draw................. Looks like the formulaic Ibiza backing track is just catching on in Europe.

Christ, makes it even worse. About time we pulled out of this nonsense competition and help it fold then, it's not as if any of the songs are judged whether we are in the competition or not, find another country to fleece for this ********.

High time we stopped entering as the UK and entered as England,Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to counteract all these ex Yugoslav and Soviet Republics. At least that way we'd avoid being left behind on points. Either that or not bother to enter next year.

I like your thinking.

Mystery to me how the Eurovision Association of Wales (EAW) ever allowed us to be part of a British 'team' anyway.

Ironic how the battle for Eurovision last place was Norway v GB on the night Norway v England football was the entertainment competition this evening. What were the chances of that? Strange forces at work here.

I found Estonia's entry by far the best, not only the beautiful ong but the really heartfelt and emotional performance of the singer.

Just found the English version of the song. Shame he didn't sing part of the song in English.

HEAR ME by OTT LEPLAND

The whole shebang is total and utter dross, from start to finish; and always is - every year. Can't beleive that there are people on here who actually like the music. Feel really sorry for the audience who have to sit through it live - at least I can switch channels and only go back for the voting - which, let's face it is comedy genius.

Gotta feel for old Eng, a 75 year old guy and we hung him out to dry on eurofukinvision - I only hope that the gig payed well.

Didn't matter so much about the gig for him or the result. Example - he was down here couple of months ago struggling to fill a 1500 seat venue. One week before the gig he gets the EV job and whoosh they could have sold it out 5 times over.

It was sad what happened nobody deserves that sort of result. But he is back in the public eye with marketing that money could never have bought. Hell, he might just get a final season in Vegas on the strength of "his comeback".

Good luck to him, he played it very well from, whatever side you look at it

Thoroughly agree with you. There are many positives from Eurovision but as always the majority only look at the negatives. I just wish it was more fairly voted upon. I'd love to see a breakdown on exactly the number of votes from each country had to allow them to award 1 - 12 points. Maybe voting should be done on the actual number of votes.

*** Nice to see the Mirror running a poll backed by Phillip Schofield on us not appearing next year.

Personally I couldn't give a toss that he crashed and burned - the point being that any UK act is very likely too. Thats why we normally try to throw in some young z lister. Sending a 75 year old man to the lions was bloody disgraceful - but as I said, he probably got well payed for doing it and as a 'name' (albeit a very faded one), he'll probably fill a few more seats for a couple of gigs at least.

As a lover of music, I really wish eurovision was shot, dead, through the head. X Factor, BGT and the Voice are horrendously bad, but the dross last night was enough to make most real musicians puke.

Is it just the Brits who have such an anti and negative view. The rest of Europe loves it I thought.

I have quite a few mates who are European (living over there) most of them watched it via streams from the BBC, mainly in order to listen to Graham Norton.

Seems they are starting to "Get it" as well.

It's car crash Television, nothing else like it in the world. The annual homage to great entertainment moments such as Plan 9 from Outer Space. It's so risibly bad you just have to watch it.

What amuses me most is people who say that Eurovision is an affront to 'real music'....FFS....that's like Olympic athletes being offended by It's a Knockout...

I'm glad that I amused you. I do 'get' eurovision. There used to be a program called Eurotrash - never really watched it - but remember the title. If this show was billed as the eurotrash competition - I would have no problem with it at all. As somebody who visits the continent every single month for work, I am well aware of their musical tastes and how shockingly bad some of their music is. First time I saw The Voice - Germany, probably two or three years ago.

Cheryl Baker from Buck's Fizz was talking on the radio before eurovision about how the music was secondary and you had to have a gimmick to win it. Ripping the skirts off was theirs.
the Swedish entry didn't have a gimmick.
