modern matron Posted 26 May, 2012 Share Posted 26 May, 2012 Considering the amazing achievement of successive promotions, all the rumours about NA, the stadium, transfers, season ticket prices and so on I am surprised there has been no staement/interview or similar to inform us of his thoughts on these issues and the future. I will add that I think the bloke is a legend and totally respect his part in our achievements, but if he has a fault it's hearing nothing from him for months and months. Thoughts? Given the tendency of past regimes to blabber about anything and everything in public, Cortese's lack of attention seeking is somewhat refreshing. That said, there is probably a happy balance somewhere between the two approaches.
Honk Kong Phooey Posted 26 May, 2012 Share Posted 26 May, 2012 We were always complaining about Lowe being too involved and needing to back off. Now we have some one who works in the back ground and only says things when they need to be said. We got what we wanted. Long may it continue. It's seems to be working to me. S-Clarke Posted 26 May, 2012 Share Posted 26 May, 2012 Is there any need for him to say anything? Why do some fans have a constant need to be spoon fed information? whizzpop Posted 26 May, 2012 Share Posted 26 May, 2012 If you take Chelsea for example you don't hear anything from Roman Abramovich, or even their chairman Bruce Buck (i think?) not saying its the model way to conduct business but we're not the only club like that has silent owners. Whereas Wigan on the other hand...i'm sure Liverpool are extremely happy with Dave Whelan announcing Martinez has been offered the job.

Sour Mash Posted 26 May, 2012 Share Posted 26 May, 2012 I've been happy to criticise Cortese in the past if I think he's done something wrong, but this definitely isn't one of those times. There is anything to comment on, so let him get on with running things behind the scenes. What I don't get is why we seem to have a big media/marketing team, without masses of quality output or is that standard at other clubs?
northam soul Posted 26 May, 2012 Share Posted 26 May, 2012 We will here from him at the end of the season after qualifying for the champions league and a cup double. He will be stood shoulder to shoulder with guardiola although giving him a frosty reception in front of the directors box as we celebrate on the pitch. Well that would be a non-article wouldn't it? ''Season ticket prices have gone up because we've been promoted, shocker". Point of him explaining that? Why would he comment on mindless speculation in the press when he hasn't ever done so before? It's rubbish, ignore what's in the press, just like NC is doing. If he commented on it he'd be fueling the fire.

Its simple, PL football & economics, what the hell do people expect? SaintBobby Posted 26 May, 2012 Share Posted 26 May, 2012 Am happy with Cortese only giving one or two set piece interviews per year. He's the overall organiser not the front man. Disagree with comments on Whelan though, think he's doing Wigan fans a favour by being very honest and direct about the situation re Martinez. Me I'd rather know more about what is really happening, and why, then give a response - hence let's hear from Nicola! Dave Whelan aside, this is surely the time when all football club chairmen go into purdah. Even the Sullivan-Gold blatherati have fallen silent. Everyone is jockeying for position, whether for players or a manager, and no one in their right mind wants to reveal their hand. As soon as a chairman or manager lets slip that they're after a player or a new manager, the risk of being gazumped or 'seduced' (Pep, TM) increases greatly. The time to talk about season ticket prices is when you unveil a shiny new bauble like JR.
