The Saint - radio station

I'm probably in a minority on this, but I think that Solent's football coverage is top-notch. I think that any competitor would have to go some to match them.

But you could get The Saint by tuning in your sky box, but you can't get bbc local football commentary other than on local frequencies.

I personally miss The Saint SO much, loved the post-match phone-in (even got on there myself on 1 occasion) and the dedicated coverage.

Solent is OK don't get me wrong, but it has to juggle the skate bastards, Bompey and Us which makes it a bit sh it IMHO

But it is Solent commentary that Saints Player provides :?

You have to pay for it though. I shan't bother next season though because i'm sure we'll be able to get commentary for free on a stream now we're in the bigtime.

Will be able to watch every moment of every game as it happens via World wide webby thing.

As we're back in the top flight it'd be great to have one again. Can't see it happening though because of the effect on saintsplayer revenues.

To be bang up to date, we should put the radio station on a ship in the Solent, and have it broadcast on short wave for maximum reach.

I'd like to see one of the local radio stations doing a daily drive home show if that is financially possible. Obviously not otherwise they'd be doing it already. The skates used to have a show on The Quay starting at 6pm that was pretty interesting. They had player and staff interviews, guests and a range of stuff that Chris Wise and fellow skates would natter over. You'd get the usual nutters calling in, some betting stuff etc. The Quay went into admin, so that's not a good sign, but the format worked well IMO.

I'm hoping that next season Saints will be given the DAB! With Saints in the Prem and Pompey in League 1, surely we should be awarded digital quality coverage. I'm sure DAB Merseyside covers Everton and Liverpool games rather than Tranmere?!

I just don't understand why in this day and age there is not a facility for listening to radio coverage of a decent quality on iPhones. Surely it makes commercial sense to create an app and charge people for the commentary? I'm sure the demand would be huge and it would be very convenient for me considering I am out of the country at the moment.

I've been hoping this will happen now too. In fact it would be good if Radio Solent just totally filtered out all Pompey talk all together, unless of course its to tell us about them being thrashed or going out of exsistance entirely :)

No. Tijuana Tim would be allowed back on the radio if The Saint comes back. NONE OF US WANT THAT!!

Anyone remember hearing a guy phone up after a loss (in the dark days), started crying on the radio. Think it was Dave Watson he was talking to, I couldn't stop laughing, cheered me right up.

I would expect that in the near future, possibly even by the start of next season, the Club Player architecture will be migrated from Flash to HTML5, which would make it iPhone friendly.

Of course you already have TuneIn but it just streams the Internet feeds, so no commentary. So it's an issue of licensing at the end of the day, not technology.

It's an issue of technology because the technology has not been adapted to find a solution to the licensing issue. All I know is that it has been something I have wanted for at least three years an I'm sure many others are in a similar situation. It isn't difficult to create something. I may fire off a suggestion to the club but after last time when I got no response I'm not so keen.

I'm sure they'll be gutted your holding back your suggestion.

DAB to FM really not that big a leap. Barely any cars have DAB so still think FM is preferable. That's the plum spot on Solent.
