The Cat Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 We're thinking of moving to the New Forest (Lymington/East Boldre way) and wondered if anyone knew what time the traffic starts stacking up going into town of a morning? Would leaving just after 7am mean the route was fairly clear or is just pants all the time?
Gemmel Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 Used to drive from Brock, and it isnt that bad. Couple of flash points ; one way system lyndhurst, rushington round about and then general slog into town, but if you left at 7.00am you would fly in. parking costs and fuel together, it will almost certainly be cheaper to train it in (Every half hour from Brock)
Saint-scooby Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 If Lymington or East Boldre take the Beaulieu road, either Twiggs lane or Heath R/bout, as above its the just Rushing r/bout thats a pain. Lyndhurst is a pain on Sunday afternoons during the Summer going towards Soton and Cadnam, On Fridays always go Ashurst way.
The Cat Posted 24 May, 2012 Author Share Posted 24 May, 2012 Cheers for those. Doesn't seem too bad. I've checked out that route Scooby and it seems pretty direct and always best to avoid the main roads as much as possible. Looked at trains, only problem is that it's too far from the station and have free parking anyway so it would have to be car all the way.
Huffton Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 (edited) Lymington-Lyndhurst road is a pain in the arse during rush hour, especially the one way section round Lyndhurst. I would drive across the forest towards Hythe then up past the Bold Forester and pick up the A326 at Marchwood. Although if you can do without your car leave it in Hythe and get the ferry across to town. Edit: Sorry, just seen the bit about leaving at 7, in which case most days you will be fine either way Edited 24 May, 2012 by Huffton
Saint137 Posted 24 May, 2012 Share Posted 24 May, 2012 Much better off being in the north of the Forest. Fordingbridge to West Quay takes 35 minutes no matter what time of day (in fact it's worse at the weekend due to shoppers/football. But as others have said, no issue at that time of day, just avoid the Cadnam to Ringwood road at all costs.
