This. Honestly, this.

Either that or in order to use twitter, every post should be followed by the twits full legitimate address - so we can go round and fill the stupid fukker in.

I use it as a news feed. I have no followers (nor wish to have any) and just follow the people or things that interest me, which are mostly sport and Saints' related. I do not however follow any of our current players but do read what they have to say on the #SaintsFC hashtag.

Oh, I understand why people follow others on twitter. What I don't get is why tweet, unless you need publicity? Lots of people seem to spend half their lives protecting themselves from identity theft, changing passwords , checking for viruses, fussing about data protection, etc --- and the other half telling complete strangers details of their personal life.

For some of us it's a part of our work, we're expected to interact with our community and it's an incredibly useful tool for that.

But as with any social media/web platform it's a bottom up system and no one dictates how or why it's used. Therefore many use it as an extension of facebook, or as a way of staying in contact with friends, or to follow footballers, or to wind up others and have a laugh.

Non of these things belittle the medium, or else we'd be talking about the removal of books due to the printing of tabloids, it's just that in the same way people read the sun for celebrity gossip rather than news, whilst others choose the telegraph or guardian, people will take what they want from it. Be that vapid and shallow, or useful and meaningful, it all has a place.

Still BURN THE MEDIUM CAUSE I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT!!! DROWN THE WITCH. DROWN HER I SAY!!!

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone has a twitter account, unless they are in the media and need the publicity. Why on earth expose yourself to all that crap, just so people you have never met can be told what you had for tea? Weird.

exactly this!

Agreed on both points. It was great to see them all getting on and they are basically just great lads. Corks pics of his burnt table yesterday were good too. I hope Adam comes back,,,, twitter can be bad news for a lot of reasons but also can be great if used properly.

Most of that is gobbledegook to me Kris. The bottom line is that it is a poorly regulated social interactive platform which serves a purpose. Unfortunately it is open to idiots posting total and utter crap, lies, deceit, truths that have no place there - in other words whilst it can be constructive, it can also be destructive.

Morons post crap about people (it might be truth, but it is still crap), I don't twit - but without exception, nearly every time I have been drawn to a thread about twitter is has had some vile, vile content. There are an awful lot of sick, sad people in the world - I see no reason to leave my cyber door open to them.

Tbh If he closed his Twitter account just because one idiot made false allegations about his fiancee then he needs to grow some balls. He's somebody in the public eye, is going to attract the odd nutter or two and can't let everyone of them get to him. I wonder whether he's perhaps been taking more abuse than we are aware of, or whether there is some situation involving Emily which makes the whole thing more sensitive. At the end of the day, none of it's really our business and I'm sure he'll do as he likes.
