Plus were looking at sacking Barton for Gross misconduct so that frees up another £10m in wages.

Should just get on with it and do it then. He'll have little or no sell on value anyway, and the sooner its done the sooner he's off the wage bill.

Atm we will struggle and probably will go down but depending who we sign and what formation we play (id prefer we change it for at least away games) then i'll make a better prediction. Our defence isnt upto premier standards and thats a big worry. We have Lee who i reckon will be our best striker by a mile but i dont think our diamond formation will work in the prem so NA needs a plan B and maybe a plan C.

We now know it'll bet Reading and West Ham going up with us, with Wolves, Bolton and Blackburn coming down, what are your predictions for our new league next season?

I've actually been watching this division for a few years now, not just this season, so know a bit about it already. For my money the teams we need to be watching out for are the two from Manchester: United and City. Chelsea are pretty good and could be a force next season plus Arsenal always perform strongly.

To be honest I think these teams are the best ones and I personally don't think we'll be able to retain our coveted 2nd spot once more, but then I said something similar a year ago so who knows. My view is that we've now pretty much found our level and it won't be so easy from here on in. Even some of the teams I haven't mentioned are pretty good and may finish above us, those are Tottenham, Newcastle and maybe even Liverpool if they get themselves a good new manager.

So my prediction unfortunately is a little on the pessimistic side and say I think we'll finish 17th. I would be happy with that, I think, though wouldn't want us to finish any lower.

It seems that quite a lot of you are following my suggestion and backing the two Manchester to be at the top next year. I hope you're not all just going on my recommendation and will come after me if they don't lol - it's just my opinion! Also people are following my lead of picking Chelsea & Arsenal followed by Spurs, Liverpool and Newcastle. While it's nice to have people back you up, I was kinda hoping for a bit more variety on the thread rather than everyone just copying the OP (me)'s picks and then filling in the rest willy-nilly. How about other people that know something about football/this league having a stab and coming up with their own choices for who might win this year, not just blindly following the rest.

Just looking for an interesting debate here people!

We have to wait until the FA ban him first, the hearing is going on right now and he has to be convicted of something after the red card so we have the grounds for gross misconduct.

You cant sack a player before hes been found guilty.

Sure you can. If the club believe he's truly guilty of gross misconduct they don't need FA backing to bin him out. The FA ban might just make it a bit easier for them if he appealed it in a court of law.

At worst he should be formally suspended IMO.

There are reasons to be hopeful as 3 of these 6 sides could easily go down:

1. Wigan if they lose Martinez

2. Swansea if they lose Rogers

3. Norwich if they lose Lambert

4. West Brom with no Woy

5. Stoke have had a bad run and this could carry on into next year

6. Reading wont be good enough for Prem, but I fear West Ham will stay up.
