Chelsea v Bayern

The best part for me was the presentation ceremony. Bosingwa seemed to be taking all the glory as Drogba was trying to make space for Terry and Lamps. When they lifted the trophy you couldn't see Terry, just lampards arm band with Bosingwa, Kalou and Drogba all in front of Terry !

Chelsea are to the Champions League what Reading were to the Championship.

I actually think they were to the CL, what WE were to the Championship (not in the style stakes, but in gaining a coverted promotion prize against the odds). We were not the best side overall, I believe there were about 4 or so that should have done much better, but we hung in there there through unity of the unity of the squad, trying to play our way etc. and had a bit of luck to boot, with other sides not really firing on all cylindersa until they were on catch up.

Actually? Not being able to see Terry kinda improved the Ceremony

Glad germans didn't win it, only problem is Roberto is bound to get the job now and i feel he is going to get Chelsea back into top 4 making them a very good team, hes done some good tactis vs some very top good teams, least we can welcome the European champions to SMS next season, even if it means now teams like Chelsea and Liverpool are going to bounce back better then ever in there league form next season, meaning top 6/7 teams are going to beat us home and away, unless we sign some quality and we might be able to nick a win at home.

Robben was the weakest link by a mile, he is the best in the world at Running with the ball with pace and going past people, but his final ball, be it a cross, shot, pass, corner, free kick or penalty is diabolical. The bloke does all the hard work and just cannot deliver the end product. Chelsea I felt were going to snatch the win due to the amount of chances that BM missed and mostly all down to the clown with the massive head - Robben.

I generally don't watch all that much non Saints related football, but I enjoyed the Champions League Final more than I expected to frankly. Even though Chelsea were outplayed for most of the match - and were more than a tad fortunate to win the game I thought - the privilege of just watching top Premiership players in action (even when outclassed) does concentrate the mind wonderfully. Players at this level possess a enviable sense of positional awareness & technical ability that is a joy to watch, they are seldom seen to panic and 'hoof' the ball out of defence, and their ability to instantly control a football & pass it successfully to a team-mate with unerring regularity verges on the sublime.

Lets face it the notion that much of our current squad is anywhere near that kind of standard is utter nonsense. Players (such as Richard Chaplow or Dean Hammond for instance) who have served this club well in the past are highly unlikely to be anything more than 'Bit Part' players in the Premier League, & even our better pros (Adam Lallana, Morgan Schneiderlin or even Sir Ricky Lambert) may look distinctly average I'm afraid when pitted against top PL players every week.

The mathematics of the situation are undeniable. At this time we have about half a dozen players who we can feel confident will make a significant positive impact next season. Which leaves us needing to sign at the very least another six high quality players to stand even a 'Punchers Chance' of Premier League survival I reckon.

Over to you Mr Cortese.

Fair play to Chelsea, I thought that Bayern's finishing was poor and whilst Robben and Ribery looked good running at the defence they didn't provide enough decent service to trouble the Chelsea back 4.

You can look as pretty as you want but it's all about getting the ball in the net.

Didn't watch the game, but christ almighty just looking at the stats how on earth did they do it!!

Possession - Bayern 55% Chelsea 45%

Shots - Bayern 34 and 20 Corners ....... scored 1 goal

Shots - Chelsea 9 and 1 Corner .... scored 1 goal.

Looking back at the 2 Barca games - a similar story.

Possession Barca 70% & 73% Chelsea 30% & 27% !!!!!!!!!!

Shots and corners over the 2 games ... Barca 48 shots and 19 corners. Chelsea 11 shots and 2 corners.

No way could anybody say Chelsea were the better team in any of those games ... but it's their name on The Cup. Crap opposition finishing or defensive resilience at its best?

True. But that is what makes footbalL so unique and exciting. The worst team can sometimes win ! That is what makes going to a football match so exciting ! That is why when we played Coventry there was always the doubt. More importantly, that is why the ecstasy of scoring a goal and winning is so much more heightened in a football match. That is why when 2 goals up and with 10 minutes to go we still chew our nails, or if we are 2 down we still have hope.

Football is a wonderful game to follow and around the world cannot be equalled for its passion and excitement ! THE BEAUTIFUL GAME !

I like CMD's double Black Power salute! Angela Merkel, with her sour ***** face, reminds me of someone from the UK's recent past but I can't remember the 'female's name.
